Pokemon Go

This is like the day Pokemon was first unveiled to the world all over again. Everywhere I go someone is talking about how they caught this or how they caught that.

I was buying a new cell phone and the sale reps in the back were talking about how someone found a Ryhorn in the bathroom.
It's madness, these are grown adults reliving the golden age all over again. I can only imagine how crazy it is in the schools

 

I actually tried to restrain myself from downloading this app since I knew it would consume me. However, I did it anyway

Except the problem is that I decided to go for a walk for 2 hours in the sweltering heat in search of Pokemon and only caught a starter. I sweated my arse off for 2 hours in 90 degree weather and getting a severe case of swamp ass and I had nothing to show for it

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

 

You have to go to big cities for it to be worth it.

I live on the countryside and pokestops are 1km from my place.

My school is in a big city, so at anytime, I have three pokestops in range and one may be lured.

 

We actually have legit "gangs" forming in my area based in pokemon go.

Like, some kids almost got into a fight with my friends and I the other day because we were blue team and we were attacking their gym, which was Red.

I just wanna catch 'em all, not catch a right hook to the face xD

 

Too bad schools are closed at the moment, can't trade with some of your mates till after summer break.

Did you try using some incense, it increases your chance of finding pokemon?
The app won't reveal any pokemon if you're moving to fast, i.e. you're in a car or a bus, but since you were walking I doubt that could be the problem (unless you were running extremely fast )

Your phone might meet the requirements for the app or the GPS wasn't working properly during that duration. My cousin has well an "okay" cell phone and his GPS is crazy, he's sitting in one place and his avatar runs around (all though that's a plus for him).

Lastly, I actually don't have data so I've been running around the house hoping to find some pokemon using the home wifi and so far have found 8. I live in the city though, so their are about 6,7 pokestops a few miles from my house visible on the map. Try roaming around your home first, just leave the app on and walk around for a few minutes, if it starts working again you can go on your hunt for pokemon outside again. Sadly, I won't be able to go to the pokemon gym near my house at this rate.

 

Alright, I managed to catch a Drowzee a few minutes ago by using incense. Maybe next time I go out I'll try burning that

 

At work, everyone was talking about Pokemon GO, it's not available in my country yet but everyone has workarounds, but anyways, I managed to catch a fair share of Pokemon, including a powerful Flareon, I almost caught a Rhydon but it escaped, none the less, everyone here is having fun with the game and myself included

 

Oh nooooo.... I wondered when this thread was coming aboard. Pokemon go is a non stop gossip. Young adults are talking about it, school students are talking about it people down the main street. People say my anime addiction is bad... I have nothing on these Pokemon fans. I never leave my bedroom, they are walking around everywhere looking for rare Pokemon till mid night with work and school starting at 8:50 am in the morning.

I've heard the application has already had malfunctions though. Shows just how many people seem to love and use this game.

 

@Supernatural-Knight The app laggs a lot during mornings and evenings when a lot of people are on, they have yet to upgrade their servers.

As for data, I was told downloading the map of you area on google maps greatly decreased the data and battery consumption.

Not available in my country either, but you wouldn't know just by looking at how many people play.

 

Protip: You'll hear people saying that tapping a Pokéball on a missed throw will get it back. That's bullshit, it doesn't. If you just look at the counter of your balls, you'll see.

Anyaway. I now live in a more populated area, and plenty of stops just a short while away. My strongest is a Pinsir at like 600 or 700, followed by a 600 Pidgeot~ I is Blue team~

Good for you, I don't have that many Pokemon and my strongest is Flareon at 250 with Growlithe and Ponyta right behind, where's that Dratini when you need it

 

10 km eggs give you a good pokemon with a crazy amount of candies.

I got a 150 Electabuzz with 30 candies.
It is currently 631 with 17 candies left. I can't boost its power anymore until I level up.

If you have 10km eggs, I suggest you focus on those.

 

I know, just learned from places like on serebii and on youtube, I do have two eggs, one of 2km and one for 10km, and why Magikarp needs that many candies to evolve? But it kinda makes sense, to power-up a weak Pokemon, you've gotta train it good, but with Magikarp into Gyarados is like a Rocky Balboa movie

Ugh, my friend has a Vaporeon and Jolteon of around 1000cp each, and a Dragonair...

Ooooo, nice tip! I could use an Electabuzz with all the Gyarados gyms around me...

 

No problem. Watch out though, Eevees can be obtained through 10km eggs and God knows you hate eevees.

Have found out that in terms of gyms: When you put a 'mon in one of your team's gyms, you can go to the store and click the defender icon to claim (500 stardust + 10 coins) x number of gyms your 'mons are in. This will then be locked for 22 hours, so if you wanna get more than 10 coins per day you gotta risk being kicked out as you claim more.
