Abandoned

Jen retracted herself as much as possible, not wanting to touch the elder man. Her minded flashed the images of her childhood: her father allowing his poker friends to have their way with her, the group beating her senseless if she didn't obey their every will, and a plethora of other much painful ordeals. She threw herself behind her brother, shaking ever so slightly.

He lay still, strategically waiting. Within a second, he lashed out and grabbed his fallen cane, hugging it to his body. A few moments later, he stood up, turning and leaving to his dorm without much care as to who tried to stop him.

 

Vito gave a passing glance as a boy with a cane walked right passed him he wasn't even paying attention currently he had an headache he just closed his eyes. Vito didn't know what was going on but he wasn't interested in it he just needed to keep to himself and nobody would bother him. Vito closed his eyes deep in thoughts this school at least had people that could protect the peace in charge.

 

Rose smiled to Beatrice.
"Just wanted to check if you were fine."
She took a sip of her apple juice.
"Happiness can shatter like glass, but like glass, it can be melted back together. You just need to find a way, maybe even some help from someone else."
Rose paused, thinking back on her younger years.
"Everyone has a book in them, we all have our own stories and circumstances."
She gave a sigh, giving her fork a twirl and looking out a window that showed the yard and wall of the school.
"You already know what kind of people are in this school. If you need any help, or someone to talk to, I wouldn't mind being there. By the way, you can call me Rose. It will be better than my original name, anyway. What is your name?"

Beatrice looked down at her plate.
"So I have been told." She took a moment to take what Rose said into account. Beatrice remembered the times she use to trust people and how much pain she endured.
It is amazing the amount of people I this world who has suffered who can still remember to smile, she thought to herself. She looked directly at Rose.
" Rose? That... is a nice name... Even if it is an alias." She said rather coldly but she did show some interest.
" My name?" She looks down at her plate again. " I... Go by the name...Beatrice... ..."

 

Rose stopped twirling her fork, letting it slip out of her hand and spearing a salad leaf.
"It seems we would both rather be called something else other than what we are. It doesn't look like things have been too easy for you."
Rose glanced at the clock on the wall.
"Well, we had better finish before the lunch hour ends. This day will become miserable if we get hungry."
Rose resumed eating meal, being sure to chew quickly yet carefully. The sandwich had a variety of meat and vegetables in it, and the salad was simple with condiments. She would save her juice for last.

 

Kara watched as the Headteacher suddenly broke up the fight. So... He's the one in charge here. Kara remained seated with her back against the wall and rested her head against it.

"Well met, Sir," Kara said in greeting.

 

Mr. Elroy stood up and sighed. Once in his feet he walked towards the cafeteria and noticed one of the students wanted to talk to him. He walked up to Kara and gave her a handshake. "Walk with me to the cafeteria with me?" On Elroys phone he texted one of the guards to grab Jonathan And being him to his office. The guards obliged. They went into Jonathan's room restrained him and brought him there. By this time Lou had already brought king there and would have company shortly.

Upon entering the cafeteria he saw all the new faces and though he was smiling he was sad. He didn't like that students couldn't deal with the real world. "Attention students." he said over the microphone. "Welcome to your official second chance at life. I am the headmaster here. But please call me Mr. Elroy. I just wanted to let everyone know that here at this program we will let you naturally grow. But if you need help ask the teachers and we will help you get out of here and back into the real world. That being said. Enjoy your lunch and try to stay out of trouble." Mr. Elroy put the mic back in a holder and walked away and out of the caf. He walked back to his office and sat down in front of King and Jonathan.

"King, I don't know why you hit Jonathan but it is absolutely unacceptable behavior. Now I could send you to juvenile ball. But I think you want that so every time you get in trouble you will just get detentions and community service hours. I'll let you off the hook with a detention this time." Mr. Elroy turned to Jonathan. "Unfortunately. You ran away when I tried to talk to you. Which i just cannot allow. You will also be put on detention. So, whatever issues you guys have work it out. Because I won't let you two out till you can get along."

King was angry by the Mr. Elroy's decision but none the less he wouldn't argue. He but his tongue before it was made worse.

Lou had already dropped off King and walked back to the cafeteria with his sister.

 

Vito Grunted his glasses shined on by the lights in the schools hallway, the now silence was very peaceful to him. The young man yawned his headache had finally disappeared, he really needed to do something people here didn't trust him but he was horrible in social events just another reason why he refused to go into the cafeteria. Vito clenched his gloved fists lightly he needed to stay awake he was exhausted his vision suddenly went blurry Vito shook his head the blurriness just wouldn't go away he had been skipping a lot of meals since he had been caught. Vito then fell forwards towards the ground fainting the world for Vito had went black as he hit the ground with a thud.

Age: 17
Short Background: Always loving and cheerful, Melani made sure to help everyone around her out as much as possible. One day she just snapped, killing her younger brother and sister before fleeing. Like a rat, she was cornered and brought to Second Chance.

Melanie had coincidentally been walking a few paces behind Vito. As soon as she saw him falter, she sped up, resting one hand lightly on his chest and another on his back, preventing him from falling. She leaned him against her, "Whoa there sweetheart, don't want you dying out here, do we?" She half drag, half carried him out the dining hall and through to the girls dormitories, laying him in her bed on the ground floor. She wet and squeezed a towel with a mixture of warm water and vinegar, lightly dabbing it around his neck and cheeks before wetting it once again and resting it on his forehead. She got up, humming to herself and left to head to the cafeteria, locking the door behind her and hoping her room-mate wouldn't come back right now. She paced herself quickly, grabbing a mixture of fruit, chicken breast, bread, and vegetable mixed rice before covering the top of it with an insulator and returning to her dorm, placing it on the table and singing a gentle and relaxing tune as she waited for him to wake up.

Jonathan sat there, idly thinking of an escape route from the school. Nowhere had previously managed to hold him, this place wasn't about to be his first.

Jennifer followed her brother, "I suddenly hate this place..."

 

Vito was grunted as he began to tilt his head upwards his body ached but he had been in a lot worse pain than he was feeling currently. The young man pushed his aching body to a sitting up positon the wet towel falling off his head. He looked at the woman in front of him she was singing a tune he didn't know what to say so he stayed silent he didn't know what sort of situation he was in so best to stay silent until she noticed him. Vito adjusted the white gloves he was wearing this woman obviously helped him.

 

"No one has it easy In life... How the individual deals with it is what makes it harder." Beatrice replied before eating the remains of her toast.
I am assuming Rose is sitting here as the seats are all filled. Beatrice thought to herself.
She looked at Rose as Rose ate her meal.
Rose looks as though she hasn't had a great start in life. Those eyes... Beatrice thought to herself again.

 

Melanie finished off her melody, looking down at the now awoken person, "Hello there! No need to fear me, I'm here to help you." She reached over to the plate, uncovering it and handing it to Vito, "You should probably eat. I noticed you passed out not too far from the cafeteria so I assumed you were just a little bit hungry."

She sat in her chair, crossing her legs, "So... what's your name, and what's your story?"

 

Mr. Elroy had motioned for the guards to take Jon and King and put them both in a small 8x8 room. Just enough for them to have space and walk around. Once the guards out them in there he announced over the intercom.

"Theodore please head to the Headteachers office. There will be guards to escort you there." Mr. Elroy got up and waited at the door for him to arrive so they could at least shake hands upon meeting each other for the first time.

 

Vito looked at the woman in front of him she gave him some food Vito only picked up an apple slice slowly eating and chewing it with a plastic utensil eating it slowly and politely before getting finished. When she asked Vito for his name Vito decided to answer "My name is Vito Dragoon and I used to be a Viglante before I was caught, and um thanks for the help Miss" Vito said honestly he saw no reason to lie since this lady helped him out.

 

Melanie nodded understandingly, "Call me Melanie. I'm one of the older students here - been around for 4 years now. If you ever need help with anything, and I mean anything, don't fear to ask!" She got up calmly, unlocking her door, "We should get going though, fortunately you still have about 20 minutes of freedom granted by lunch left to enjoy."

 

Vito stood up walking towards the door "You're right but I don't know what I'm going to do for the next twenty minutes I'm not a people person and I doubt many people will like me here" Vito said to Melaine. The Vigilante remained silent he didn't even know were he was he would just let Melaine lead the way.

 

"Well, I tend to be good with people. Let's see what we can do about getting you friends!" She left the room, heading towards the cafeteria.

 

"Ach wait I'm in a girls dorm room wait on me I could get in trouble without you" Thankfully Vito was able to follow her without getting caught. Vito sighed hopefully Melanie wouldn't do anything to rash and embarrassing him. Vito then got to the Cafeteria seeing Melaine he waved politely at her and sat alone were how it should be. Vito smiled relived he was alone with peace and quiet maybe he shouldn't have told her about his problem with gaining new friends ah well to late to worry about things after they were said and done.

 

"Which is why you deal with life the right way. Someday, it will work out."
Rose replied after she finished her meal. The meal wasn't bad,and if this was a sign for how the other meals were to be from here on, then this was quite doable.
She stood up and picked up her tray.
"I am going to put this up. Are you done using yours? Because I'll bring that along if you are."

 

Beatrice saw the loom on Rose's face and how she enjoyed her meal while keeping in mind what she said. She is so positive, Beatrice thought to herself. She looked at her plate.
" Yes I am... It's alright. I can take my own over." She said.
