Glad you enjoyed that video. I know what you mean, I was debating on actually watching Initial D again after watching it or maybe Wangan Midnight. If only they had done more with Wangan. It's a great show, but it never got a dub. Now if only some company were to fund a kickstarter to get that show dubbed id'e be all in. If anything though i'm going to start reading a Racing Manga called Zero Angel or Sōheki no Datenshi. It's been on my list of things to start and I got the time this weekend to start it.

Now your vid where do I begin. I'm positive I would have clicked it out of sheer curiosity. It certainly was what I was expecting. I was anticipating horses out of that gate. And instead... I can't even bring myself to type it out Super. It just caught me by total surprise.

 

Wangan Midnight actually has some tale tail truth behind it with some true event inspiration. The story gets its roots from the actual street racing that occurs on Tokyo's Shuto Expressway, one stretch of which is known as the "Wangan", literally meaning "bay side" (although it is generally used to refer to the freeway), the longest, straightest road in the entire country. Of course, there's also lots of traffic to contend with, including a fair number of heavy trucks. Because of this, the action is inherently hazardous, and wrecks are common. Blown engines are also a frequent hazard, especially with the extreme-high power engines. Also nearly all their races are done late at night to reduce danger due a significantly lower amount of traffic thus the anime's name Wangan Midnight.

For a brief introduction the story revolves around Akio the main character who after losing to Tatsuya and his Porsche 964 Turbo aka "BlackBird" in his Fairlady Z31. After this defeat he is determined to become faster so he goes to a junkyard to buy parts for his car to upgrade it's performance. Upon getting there he finds a pristine midnight blue (another reason for the anime's name) Fairlady Z (S30 yr make I think is a 78) in the junkyard. This intrigues him as to why such a car is about to be junked so he inquires and ask why this is. He is then told that the car is unnaturally fast due to a tuned L28 engine, bored and stroked to 3.1 liters combined with twin turbos, which allegedly produces 600+bhp (The anime I feel exaggerates on these numbers, but still a ton of power all the same). On top of this he learns that all the car's previous owners had unfortunate accidents in it, starting with the first owner's death. The show follows Akio's numerous encounters, but the majority revolves around his ever constant battle with the BlackBird for superiority. Also there are a good handful of side supporting characters with great depth to them such as other racers, tuners, and more. To me this is easily a must watch for any one interested in cars or racing. Also the OST music is very catchy. Iv'e actually got the entire soundtrack downloaded to my PC. After having told you about i'm very tempted to watch it again. Well if you do get to watching it I hope you enjoy it. And if so message me back on what you thought about it Super. Take care

 

I forgot this as well. There is even a live-action movie based on the anime that aired back in like 2009-10 if my memory serves me. So if you are left craving more after completion of the series, that is if you actually watch it you can fix that craving with the movie. Again have a good one @Supernatural-Knight.
