The USA bot looks like some beat up machine straight out of Warhammer 40k. Methinks Japan doesn't stand a chance

Oh man. I miss MW3 so much. It's definitely my favorite. Unfortunately, it's not compatible with the video cards in any of my computers, and so I'm unable to run it. =/ I really wish that they would add it to GOG and update it for modern machines.

 

Let me guess, you get the boucing APC and jumping Mech glitch too?

Yeah that game doesn't play nice with new hardware. I remember I found a way to fix the weirdness but don't remember anymore. My game used to crash when I did the Alpha Strike on a 8+ PPC loaded Diashi with no heatsinks. It went nuclear before the PC called it quits.

Was worth the laugh.

 

I get that on a few of my PCs. On my main desktop, it just becomes a bunch of blurred lines as soon as you start the game. On the one PC that I managed to get it to run on, it crashes after the 3rd mission, no matter what I do.

 

That reminds me, the second mission sometimes get's that missing turret in the end of the map.
I just don't remember what I did.

Blurred lines... do you get the really fast scrolling text in the main menu? Now that I think of it toning the game down to software mode may have fixed some of those problems.

Of course you'll be stuck playing in 640x480

I've also gotten the missing turret. It seems kind of hit or miss whether or not that glitch appears.

I can't recall if I get the fast scrolling text or not. I want to say yes, but it's been over a year since I last tried to get it to run. I've tried software mode but the game still crashes after the 3rd mission.

I've read that completing the tutorial will fix the crashing after that mission, but that doesn't seem to be the case. At least, not when I tested it. I've also read that it's an issue with the video card. Something about the pre-mission briefing or something in that mission that conflicts with most modern video cards.

I've just been trying to get by on the MW4 games (of which, Mercenaries is the best) but it's just not the same.

 

It's different but I really like it in it's own way too. Your right though, it's not MW3. I just wish I could blow up those buildings in the city levels at the end. Seriously I cheated infinite ammo LBX 20's and long toms to blow up a skyscrapper and couldn't do it.

Oh and I want the ability to step on people. How could they take that out!?

 

I know right? Haha.

Did you play Black Knight? I felt like they took a really weird turn with that one. "Hey, your character from Vengeance was actually a dick and now you need to ruin everything that you accomplished in that game. Enjoy." I also feel like they ramped up the difficulty on it.

 

I don't remember that one too well but yeah they really turned the story around on it.

I actually had to plug my old Joystick setup and go complete pro mode to beat that game (The stick rotates the turso and made it easier to circle strafe)

I havent' done that in ages. Of course the hiatus from playing the base game and the expansions was a few years so maybe I was just rusty.
I want my old pulse lasers back. Nothing was more broken then 8 medium MW3 pulse lasers wrecking a light mech in 5 seconds.
At least the shotgun like effects of the LBX weapons were a huge improvement. That and I didn't have to go up against Annihilators.

 

Man, I miss those Annihilators. =P

I enjoyed the introduction of the MadCat Mk II in MW4, but I felt bad using it over the original MadCat. That mech can tangle with just about anything in any weight class.

Did you ever use the Cauldron-Born (I think) in a MW3 skirmish and hit Enter to fire all weapons at once just to have your mech explode from overheating?

 

Of course that was the best effect in the whole game! Have you tried loading up maxumum flamers and causing the enemy mech to overheat and explode? I think it even works in MW4, those Awesome and Nova Cats always fell for that trick

I've done that with flamers, and it's loads of fun. But I never actually use flamers when playing seriously. They just seem so impractical.

MechWarrior 3 = best mech sim ever. I was so excited when they teased MWO, originally. I thought it was MW5 and I was ludicrously excited. I wonder if we will ever see another single-player MW game? It feels unlikely at this point.
