I see you are one of those people....sigh. Kai is good especially if you want to speed through the series in preparation for the new season or you don't care about every bit of filler along the way. It got rid of the filler, touched up the animation in a few places however nothing but the filler was cut unless what you watched was the version aired on TV which got censored a bit.

 

Well what way would I be talking about but the good old tv and the BAD OLD 4kids dub of Kai? Yes I watched that ver. but ti wouldn't have changed my mind. I do admit for those who like to see less filler, it's prolly better, however, I do take issue with them removing all eps showing their jurney before getting to Namik. No space pirates of kids ep. No false Namik with 2 villains. Nothing but, hey, we're going to namik, next ep, hello namik. BS! And just for clarification, what exactly do u mean by "one of those people...sigh."? Oh and, it also removed some choice snake way eps, I think the ep showing the female snake that tries to eat Goku was removed. I do know they removed Goku falling off of snake way once and having to restart it which filler, maybe, but it was a CRUCIAL detail.

 

Ummm kai was dubbed by Funimation and a lot of the voices actually sounded a little better. True not every choice was perfect but overall it was at least equal to the original. The rest of what you said all boils down to "I'm not happy they removed the filler' WHICH WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF KAI. None of the stuff removed was a critical detail because it was all filler. None of it happened in the manga and was only there to take up time. Maybe you liked it and honestly DBZ did have some fun filler so besides a few really slow episodes I liked most of the filler as well. But you can't hate on a show for doing exactly what it was meant to do. So it's not BS it's exactly what it was meant to be. A remastered versuib of DBZ that removed all non manga content to give the shortest version of the story possible to those who just want to watch the actual story. All those "choice" episodes are filler. If you want to see the longer version with Bonus filler content them obviously watch the original. But that doesn't make Kai inferior it just means it's CLEARLY not what you are looking for.

and by those people I mean people who trash Kai and act like DBZ is the only "real" one when all their complaints are related to removing filler or censorship done by the broadcasters and thus aren't even Kai's fault.

 

The mention of 4kids usually sparks a oh, that company... Anyway, the latter, the censorship, changes done and such by 4kids is and when I said dub, I didn't mean 4kids dubbed it, but they did air the dub and ruin it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Kai to an extent, and I even waited MONTHS for 4kids to air the cell saga, but they never did, just kept re-airng old Freiza sga eps, the worst part, is they didn't finish it, left ya on the ep where Freiza was

sliced in half but not dead, the following ep which should've aired was Freiza begging for his life, Goku giving him enough energy to survive, only for him to betray Goku and Goku "blasting" him and trying to escape the exploding Namik in time." However

none of that from the last ep of the Freiza saga ever got aired by 4kids, and by the time the vortex came on, I'd lost TV and even then only Nickelodeon aired the cell saga, but I had no way to watch it and lost interest when they did air it. I ultimately said ya know what, the original was indeed better and wth that, I dropped Kai. Ya can blame 4kids for what they did and taking their sweet time for me disliking Kai, but I don't hate it.

 

Well, the new season begins

 

Well then that's your fault for ever watching anything those people touched. Never trust 4kids with anything. The proper dub without 4kids or any other idiots touching it has no censorship or edits outside of filler removal and a few new scenes here and there to fill in the gaps in a few places.

 

First of all, my opinion about the other anime that ended:

Hibike! Euphonium: It still feels like K-On! but with an orchestra instead of a Light Music Club, that's Kyoto Animation for ya
Houkago no Plaiades: Very different from the ONA's, more story and more plot plus a little extra with romance, nice

Well this season started with a bang, literally:

Miss Monochrome Season 2: And she's back, someday she'll be a top idol, someday
Symphogear GX: Wasted no time with the action and the music from the very begining of the episode
Charlotte: Another anime created by Key, so I'm prepared for what's to come later on
Rokka no Yuusha: Man I love fantasy anime, plus looks like it'll get awesome later on
Working!!!: Back for a third season, man I missed those guys and their moments

Now I just need to wait for the other anime to air and for Joukamachi no Dandelion to have subs

 

Actually, I liked all their other shows/anime they aired, yes even Sonic X. I can't remember if it was cartoon network or 4kids that aired the 1st 2 arcs of one piece but, whichever came 1st I liked it better back then and yes, I am aware of the many edits for one piece that 4kids did...

 

4kids did have a better Luffy voice in the dub. It sounded childish but that suited his character. The funimation Luffy sounded..... it's been a while but I remember it sounded off. The edits they made were stupid too especially how they actually went and edited the characters tragic backstories to make them more just mild inconveniences. Because even if it's just a god damn backstory heaven forbid we let children even know what death is.......... 4kids sucks. I didn't hate the 4kids dub of One Piece either but I kind of have a grudge against them because since they made it so Zoro's childhood friend wasn't dead I thought that assistant of Smokers was her. Then I found out later she was dead and not just injured and felt completely lied to.

 

Oh my, sounds like ya hold a grudge against 4kids, I can certainly understand that though. lol For example, Magical DoReMi. In the dub there's an ep where one of the girls gets kidnapped, so the other 2 tail the 2 men who took her, later they find out it was all just a misunderstand and that 1 of the men was her uncle Mike, the other man is a friend of U. Mike but in reality, in the raw/sub, she really was kidnapped. Heaven 4bid we let the kids know this can happen to them! lol I hold my own grudge against them less so now a days but, this one is more closer to your sitch, albeit I don't hold a grudge against them on this one but I can understand feeling like u were lied too.

EDIT: U know, I wonder just what 4kids was thinking when they did all these edits and such?

 

I really don't know. Editing out blood I get. Editing out weapons and graphic violence I also sorta get. But removing even the slightest mention of death or violence to the point of damaging the story and rewritting entire episodes or back stories is just absurd. There are also weird edits like changing Marines to navy even though America has both and everyone should recognize the name Marines. or some of their weapon edits are just pointless. For example I never even noticed the guns had been turned into water guns because they still looked mostly like guns and the idea of threatening people with water guns was just too stupid to consider even as a child.

The weird thing if 4kids are technically very good at their job. Their edits may be stupid but they are normally fairly well done to where you wouldn't notice a lot of them unless you just knew what was meant to be there. If they didn't waste so much time and money on pointless edits they'd probably be doing a lot better right now as a company instead of having to declare bankruptcy and stuff. But instead of doing what fans actually wanted they made a point of editing everything to absurd extremes. It's not like they needed to do this to keep parents off their backs or get their shows on TV because plenty of other cartoons used legit weapons and no one complained. Rather people were complaining ABOUT the edits and they refused to change all the way until the end.

The only thing I can guess is the guys in charge were so out of touch with reality they had no idea what "age appropriate" even meant and just covered their asses as much as possible.

 

A new season for me to get behind in!
So far I seent 1 episode of 2 shows...




I know shes an Android but they made her voice too different from even the first season. Its TOO robotic.
IDK if I'm gonna like that this season.

Man, I need to get some popcorn to read all the comments about 4kids and their censorships, 'cause this is getting very interesting, they were gonna do Water 7 but they dropped One Piece and now Funimation has it up to Sabaody Archipelago and Yu-Gi-Oh! is now Konami's since 4kids is long gone now

 

Thank god they didn't get to Water 7. Can you imagine what they would have done to Robin's backstory? "No the Marines didn't kill everyone Robin knew and loved along with everyone else who just happened to be there in a mass bombing they just arrested her mom and Robin is looking for evidence to set her free" or some shit like that. Because remember all you parents out there the best way to raise your kids is to completely shelter them from the real world and not let them know things like death are a thing for as long as possible.

 

Correction, I've seen 3 episodes now of new shows

 

Tell that also to Sonic X, Yu-Gi-Oh!, DBZ Kai, Ojomajo DoReMi, Tokyo Mew Mew, Shaman King, F-Zero GP Legend, which most of them were changed in a way to suit children, no violence, no death, no romance, no religion, no weapons, etc. They originally had Pretty Cure on the plan but that one was dropped before production even began for it

 

Say wha? She's throwing condoms to all the students, promises romance and then becomes the president? Is that allowed or is that even possible? May pick this up later

 

Well I'm not sure if I want to watch Gate right now or not because I've already read the manga and I'm already thinking of watching one or two others who's manga I've read and that's starting to be a few too many shows where I already know what's going to happen (The fatal flaw of manga reading is you never know when an adaptation will come). But the manga was rather good (of course after what happened with Denpa Kyoshi you might want to still not be too optimistic). The only thing I worry about with gate is it had some rather harsh and dark scenes at times and depending on what type of audience the animators are aiming for they might water some of it down. But I think you'll like Gate assuming they adapt it properly.

I'm going to check out Ushio to Tora later so I'll give my opinion on that later.

EDIT: Okay watched first episode and here are my thoughts. First the MC is fucking hideous! What the hell is up with that nose? The rest of his face is pretty bad too. The animation itself is good though so he's not poorly animated just ugly. Also judging from that opening I think we might be able to expect soem epic battles later I'll just have to get used to that damn face of his.

The rest of the episode was pretty good. It had some good moments and the fight at the end was pretty good for a first episode.

 

The CR stream only showed those as white squares. I knew what if was supposed to be, but upset they chose to censor protection.
