Podcast

So far I've used Skype, TS, and mumble and they've all been pretty good, but skype can be a bit unstable at times. I think we should agree on using one chat service or a couple and experiment to see which one we can get the best recording with once we figure out what program to use to record everything.

 

Most podcasts that I know of use Skype. I'm not sure if there is a more stable or reliable service available. So long as it's free and works well, and is easy to record with, any program should work.

 

So I guess we are agreeing with Skype or do we post a pole of the common clients?

I'm definitely on board with being a segment host.

 

Okay, I'm sorry for the double post, but it looks like no one's posted here in a little while. Since we've seem to have decided on using skype I think we should decide on what we want to do with the podcast itself and, like Spor said, get a little more organized. For example, what kind of segments do we want to include as well as setting up how often we'd want to record and release podcasts.

So far for segment topic ideas my minds come up these: Gaming, manga, and Anime of course. also could do a review of the week/month, reviewing a new anime or one from the past. These are just some ideas I'm throwing up here since I really would like to see this podcast happen.

 

Perhaps we should get a few people to sign on to do a pilot episode? Once we get a few people committed we could have a pre-recording meeting to kind of sort things out, segments and things like that, and then set a date to record.

I would be willing to host the podcast and/or appear on/assist with setting things up regularly, maybe fortnightly or monthly? Would you or anyone else (anyone reading this) be up for hosting or co-hosting regularly? If we can nail down a host, co-host, an editor, and other key positions who can be available regularly, we can keep the podcast going and still have new guests/segment hosts with each recording, depending on who is available/shows interest.

 

I'd be willing to give being a co-host a try. Since my work schedule seems to be leveling out I'll be able to appear regularly. And yeah, I agree with you on doing a pre-record meeting as soon as we get enough people on board. That'll be one of the best ways to organize things and it will also get the ball rolling here.

All we need are the people who are willing to get this idea off the ground and going.

So far I'm counting myself, Rogue_assassin, and Delta(?) on board for a pilot. I think I can rope in another person to appear on the pilot.

Would anyone be up for editing? @Dirtie00 @sayWut both mentioned editing, would either of you be up for editing a pilot episode?

Does anyone else want to sign on for a pilot? If it's okay with everyone, I'll go ahead and start getting things sorted out to begin recording (getting skype/recording software in order, setting up dates, working out a format, setting up a pre-recording meeting, etc.). Unless someone else wants to head this up, which is fine by me. I don't want to step on any toes. =P

 

yep, I'm up for that, work permitting. don't have two weeks the same hours wise. will see what i can do

 

Nice! looks like things here are starting to come together. I'm off monday's and tuesday's and It looks like I'm working evenings and nights for the next month so mornings will be good for me too.

 

For the record, I haven't forgotten about this. My electric has been out all week, and I've had several doctor appointments. But I'll get on this, this week. :3

 

Okay, sounds good man. Get what you need to get done and get to this when you can.


In the meantime, why don't we list what days and times would be good to record to keep the ball rolling on this. I'm good for recording on Mondays and tuesdays, and my mornings are also free as well since I work a night shift. I really don't see my work schedule changing since it's been the same for the last month so those are pretty solid for me.

Everyone else who's involved or wants to be involved with the podcast can list the days and times their free ( including time zone ) so we can at least see what time frames will work with everyone involved for recordings. I'm sure this will greatly help out Baconman since it seems like he's taken up the role of planning this out.

Also, this is just a idea that popped into my mind, but would it be a good idea if we had a planning meeting on skype sometime in the near future?

 

Yeah, that would be a good idea. You can add me on Skype (or PM me and I'll add you). My skype name is the same as my name here (it's my username for everything). @Delta add me as well, if we're not already friends (contacts, whatever) on Skype.
