Ok so here is something I found myself doing that I found rather amusing...

So you know the "flags" generally found in visual novels? I have thought to myself about applying those rules to real life. (see the anime "The World God Only Knows" if you don't know what i'm talking about :p)

Is that weird or awesome? Anyone else have similar experiences?

@Railgun can't say I have ever viewed my own life with setting flags for anything [I don't typically do enough to set significant flags]. After becoming aware of the usage of the term in anime I have more or less started viewing movies as a whole with them. Although I never typically pay attention to romance flags in shows but more the death flags because they are more fun.
Although if you don't mind me asking, I saw this thread before you edited it and now I'm curious as to what made you remove your story about your workplace?

I think it's kinda cool. Flag setting is a real thing, but real people aren't as easy to set flags on. Sure you can make enemies etc. But they aren't set in stone.

If you want a better usage of the flags. Watch this show. http://myanimelist.net/anime/19685/Kanojo_ga_Flag_wo_Oraretara
Granted, it's a harem, but it's really good for the theme.

Ah, I thought it was a little too much unnecessary detail, and wanted it to be easier to read. You also bring an interesting point about death flags... I've never really paid any attention to them. Hopefully I don't encounter any in real life haha. Although that would definitely prove interesting knowing which paths to take/avoid for death...
"cross the street now? or cross the street in 30 seconds?" Little stuff like that.

I also tried the show "If Her Flag Breaks" (going by English title) as recommended by Nimander. Great use of the concept, can't say it peaked my interest though. Left it around episode 4 or so.

Making it an easier read, that makes enough sense. I liked the idea of opening the thread with your own example but stating the question without it also works.
Death flags in life wouldn't be nearly as fun, let's just stay as far away from them as possible. I'll just stick to having fun seeing them in anime.

So is this where we talk about Flags cause my favourite flag is the old Libyan flag.

But if you saw death flags, you could help people by helping them avoid it (and your own!) Though it would be terrifying to see unavoidable circumstances unfold before you. I guess we can go by your rule-set and leave them in anime.

I like the flag of earth. It's just a picture of earth on a blue background lol

It was a joke . Cause you would expect the flag of earth to be somewhat more extravagant than what it actually is. I'm a very sarcastic person, but I guess that is kind of hard to convey through text now that I think about it.

On the plus side it would be easy to draw! (simple flags)

Still Google the Swaziland flag and admire the patterns on it.

I did... and I thought about what each detail in it meant. Surely every detail has a meaning of why it was placed on it, which makes me think a lot of thought was put into it. It's extravagant compared to my simplistic (yet great!) American flag.

Your flag reeks of no healthcare.

@VeritasOdiumParit Yeah that's the one, cause this is the new Libyan flag:

Now I'm liking the sound of this but more as an anime bio, imagine a series that could utilise this properly.
But being able to stop someone from dying when their time is up, I wonder if it'd take the path that they will always die somehow at that time or if someone else will end up dying to replace them instead? So many potentially interesting paths for this topic if anything was made regarding it.

The show Nimander initially mentioned earlier touched on it briefly. I didn't finish that series but I remember the main character saw a death flag on one of the other main female characters and ended up saving her.
English title "If Her Flag Breaks".

Haha yeah thanks but I'm not watching that. I avoided it on purpose while it was airing because it didn't look like anything I'd enjoy. I had no idea they used death flags in it but yeah no, definitely not happening any time soon.

What about them? I really don't have much input, although I have not really put much thought in the subject before.
