The Princess's Hidden Power

It's looks like she found out that I was following her. Well, I guess it can't be helped. I lose her around a corner but I'm not far behind her, so I quickly turn the same corner and...

She's...gone? There's just a few gardeners and a cat hanging around. I click my tongue and shake my head.
"I gotta hand it to her, she's pretty good."
Just then, I see Lucius walking by so I call out to him.
"Hey, got a sec?"
He nods his head and walks over.
"Of course. How may I be of service, Lord Turin?"
I'm about to open my mouth and tell him not to be so formal, but...I decide to let it go for now.
"I was following someone who was making their way over here. She was moving through the trees, and she was pretty quick, too. She one of yours, by any chance?"
Lucius rubs his chin for a moment.
"Hmm...no, she shouldn't be. None of my men are scheduled for any outside patrols today. I wanted to make sure we had everyone nearby to watch over the castle while the Lady Seer was visiting."
He furrows his eyebrows in thought.
"She could have been from the army, I suppose. Or perhaps she was one of the Lord Centurion or Lady Anastasia's personal guard. But I'm afraid I can only guess as to why she was scouting around today."
"That does seem kind of odd, doesn't it?"
I shrug and smile back at him.
"Ah well, I should probably mind my own business, anyhow. Thanks for indulging me."
He bows politely. Come on, Lucius...seriously?
"Of course, Lord Turin. If I hear anything, I'll be sure to inform you right away."
I give him a quick pat on the shoulder.
"Good to know, thanks."
I walk away, still wondering about that girl and what she was doing.


After his talk with Turin, Lucius walked through the garden where he happened to notice one of his men, who seemed to be out for a casual stroll.
"Ah, there you are, Tyr."
He approached Tyr, a wry smile on his face.
"You know, even though you weren't on the schedule tonight, I was somewhat hoping that you would at least come to the garden out of curiosity. You missed a lot tonight; you realize that, right?"
He purposely averted his eyes, as if he was just thinking out loud.
"Let's see...should I even mention the exciting news we heard about Lady Cereza? Oh, and then there was that shocking announcement regarding Lord Turin..."

 

Tyr turned to Lucius. "Ah! Sir Lucius!" He bowed. "Aha... Yeah... I kinda of uh... Fell asleep in the church..." He coughed slightly. "You know, Being a part of your elite guard AND being a priest takes a lot out of a man." He laughed heartily and patted Lucius on the back. "So, Tell me of today's events. What of Lady Cereza? And you said something about Lord Turin?"

Rena smiled and hugged the Princess. "So what do you mean extra protection? Aren't I good enough?" She giggled a little bit then let go of the Princess.

 

Lucius shook his head and groaned.
"You know, Tyr...most people would be content to devote their lives to becoming either a great warrior or a devout priest. I never could understand why you insist on trying to do both."
He waved his hand dismissively, deciding to drop the topic for now.
"Well, on to more important things. First of all, Lady Cereza's power! It seems that she has been blessed with the gift of restoration! How fitting for our lady, don't you think? Oh, but that's not the whole story...it seems that this is only part of her full power! She will only awaken her true potential when...when..."
He hesitated for a moment, as a few beads of sweat began to form.
"Ahem...Lady Cereza's true power will only awaken when she...marries. Strange, isn't it? But we have no reason to doubt the Lady Seer's prophecy. I wonder if...that means she will be thinking of marriage soon...?"
He noticed the strange look that Tyr was giving him and cleared his throat.
"I'm not sure what's going through that head of yours, but I'm sure it's nothing I want to hear."
He took a look around to see if anyone could hear him, then he leaned in and whispered to Tyr.
"I don't know if Lord Centurion wants the rest of the clan to hear this or not, but he told us so I'll tell you. Lord Turin...has been named as the successor to Lord Centurion's throne! He will become the next lord of the whole land!"
From the way he spoke, it was easy to tell that he could hardly contain his joy and his pride in Turin.

After everything that's happened today, I decide to go for a walk around town for a while. I like to do this every once in a while to clear my head and see how the people are doing. It's refreshing to see their smiling faces all around. Not only that, we've got some really nice places around to visit if you know where to look.

But obviously, I can't just wander around in my usual clothes or people will recognize me in no time. So I change into more common-looking clothes and I wear a long, white robe with a hood over those. I made sure to get one with a hood that covers my hair and partly obscures my face. It works like a charm, and there's something about going around incognito that just makes the whole thing even more fun. I chuckle to myself as I wonder what people would think if they knew there was a prince going on a casual stroll through town.

Unfortunately, there's not many people out right now since it's getting pretty late. After visiting a few of my regular spots, I decide to wander a little bit. I might have taken it a little too far...I'm actually kinda lost right now.
"Yep. Definitely should've gone right at that last turn."
I mumble to myself and shrug. I actually don't mind being a little lost like this. If I really wanted to, I could just climb on top of a nearby building and get a better idea of where I am. But I'll just let myself stay lost a little longer. It's fun this way.

After wandering around a little more, I find myself in a garden I've never seen before. It's not extravagant, but it's pleasant and it's been taken care of very well. Somebody's definitely got a talent for gardening. And I think I've just found that person, lying on the grass in front of their house. I smile and wave to her.
"Hey there! Nice garden you've got here, I hope you don't mind me taking a moment to admire--"
I stop suddenly when I realize something. I thought she just looked peaceful because she was lying in this nice, calm garden, but....I think she might actually be sleeping. Oh man, did I just wake her up? I cover my mouth-- as if that would do any good at this point-- and silently hope I didn't wake her up.

 

Cereza smiled warmly. "Of course you are." She replied, as she pat Rena's head gently. "Father wanted some extra guards around just in case anything happens. It's just a couple extra people, and Ran will be here too." She added, as she sat on her bed, with a slightly concerned expression on her face. It was like it suddenly hit her that everything she does after the three days really matters to everyone else...more so than herself...even who she marries. 'How am I to know who will bring out the best in me, and not the worst?' She thought to herself, as she lowered her head slightly.

The room door was open, it was pretty easy to find my way in such a huge manshion or castle, whatever this is. Ahh, hopefully i get used to it. I entered without knocking. "Hello Ms. Rena, (scaring Ms. Rena into attack mode) i am sorry, i didn't mean to frighten you, My name is Lena and i will be your new companion in protecting the princess" *Smirks* "It is a pleasure to meet you" *Runs in and Hugs Rena*

 

Shocked by the sudden entrance and embrace of Lena, Rena jumped up. "Dear Lord... Please remember to knock next time." She gave Lena a quick hug. "It's a pleasure to meet you though." She them turned towards the Princess. "Mistress? Are you feel alright?" She looked at her with a concerned look on her face.


"Restoration, eh? Even I, a man of God, Have no powers like that. She is incredibly gifted" He smiled and looked towards the sky. "And Lord Turin to become King? Well the kids got a good head on his shoulders, But we will see how things play out." He looked towards Lucius and patted his back. "Just be prepared for anything, And lighten up a bit, You're too stiff." He sighed and sat down on one of the benches. "And to as why I decided to be a priest and a warrior... I made a promise to be the best I could... To my late wife."

 

Cereza looked up to Rena and shook her head gently. "I'm okay, just tired." She replied, then looked at Lena. "Welcome." She greeted Lena. "Nice to meet you." She added with a slight smile on her face.

Xia, after giving her report to her mistress, quietly left the room, now returned to her cat-like state, and began to roam the house, as she normally would in this form. She found her way out to the southern part of the castle's garden.
Xia could smell the light scent of a dog...probably on the other side of the garden. She knew this scent...it was the scent of the resident 'guard dog', Archie. She smiled internally, as she thought back on how she used to tease Archie with an amusing cat chase...sometimes right up a tree, or into a well, where she'd turn back into herself, and watch the ensuing confusion from the dog.

 

"Hello Princess, it is nice to finally meet you. Get some rest, but before you do, is there anything that i can do to assist you?

I am new and i wish to be your second Protector"

"Please authorize the contract by wearing this ring, from now on, Just hold the ring to your heart and call for me, i will be here in an instant"."Princess, once you have called me, you'll then kiss the gem on my ear, it will activate my robe to fight the demons, if you agree please wear the ring and kiss my ear to show you my power"

 

OOT: Hey, Vishal. Welcome to the RP.

Whoops. Well, she's definitely awake now, so I might as well make some small talk.
"Lost? Yeah, I guess you could say that. It's more like "I haven't bothered trying to find my way yet", you know what I mean?"
I chuckle and sit down on the grass, since she doesn't seem to mind my being here.
"Sorry for just showing up in your garden like this. But while I'm here, I've gotta say, you've done pretty well with this place. We could use someone like you back at--"
I stop myself before I finish that thought. I was about to say "castle" and I don't think I want to give that away yet. She might start asking questions, then she might find out who I am, then I might start drawing attention. I clear my throat and change the subject. I guess I should introduce myself somehow, but...hold on, I think I've got it. It came to me when I glanced over at the blue jays just now.
"Well, where did my manners go? Let me introduce myself. You can call me Talon; I'm a wandering swordsman and I just happened to be passing by when I saw your garden."
What? It's not like anything I said was a lie. I'm a swordsman, I was wandering and she can call me Talon even if nobody else in the world does. Hmm...I guess that's sort of like my secret identity now.
"So, what's your name, if you don't mind me asking?"

Lucius was about to give Tyr a short (or maybe not so short) lecture, until he brought up his late wife.
"I'm sorry...I had no idea."
Lucius hung his head slightly. They hadn't known each other for that long so Tyr hadn't brought it up before.
"..."
After a few moments of silence, he smiled and tried to lighten the mood by patting Tyr on the back.
"...Well, for what it's worth, you're doing a pretty good job. I'm sure she's proud of you. Just try not to burn yourself out by taking on too much at once."
He chuckled, immediately realizing how ridiculous that sounded.
"Ah, who am I kidding? You're not the kind of guy to let yourself be...overburdened, so to speak."
He gave Tyr a wry smile.

 

Archie sniffed at the air and sighed when he recognised the scent.
"Xia." he called out, disgruntled, "I don't have time to play your games this evening. I have other matters to attend to."
With that, shadows began wreathed the small dog and started slowly expanding, Archie's silhouette growing more monstrous along with it. Eventually, his form stopped growing, but the shadows remained, flowing around Archie like steam.
"I would be more than happy for you to accompany me if you so wish."

OOT: I'm...not sure what you're getting at. As far as I can tell, she's still in the Princess's room along with Lena and Cereza. Sorry if that wasn't very helpful. :/

I meant to say something just now, but it looks like I've actually been stunned speechless by what Celest just said. I take a second to recover and try again.
"...Recruit? Huh? I honestly have no idea at all what you're talking about."
I tilt my head slightly and raise an eyebrow.
"Are people really that obsessive about their gardeners? I guess the nobles can be a little...eccentric sometimes, but I never would have imagined that they'd send armed thugs to try to pressure you into working for them."
I cross my arms and look down at the ground.
"This might be a more serious problem than I thought...I'll need to have a talk with Father when I get back."
I look back up at Celest.
"Have you told the guards about this? If you don't want to walk into town alone, I'll go with you."
I nod and give her a confident smile.
"I can guarantee you that none of those thugs have a sword arm as good as mine."

 

Xia lept from the ledge she was on, and trotted towards Archie. "Why not." She said, as she sat, and tended to her fur. "I don't have any other orders to attend to."

Cereza took the ring that Lena handed to her, and put it on her right middle finger. She then looked from Rena to Lena, and rose from her bed. She walked towards Lena, and gently kissed the gem on her ear. Cereza then stepped back, waiting to see what Lena's power was.

 

Rena stood next to the Princess and held onto her arm. "I wonder what she'll do..."


Tyr stood up from the bench and let out a hearty laugh. "Hahaha! I guess you're right, Sir. There's no need to be down in the dumps, I'm sure my wife is smiling at me from afterlife." He put his arm over Lucius's shoulder. "What's say you and I go get a drink to celebrate the grand news you just told me about, eh?"
