    Isn't putting Usagi here actually a major spoiler for the manga? Also regarding Asuna as a nomination, she's more a mother-like figure, not actually a mother.

    Not exactly since saying that doesn't say who she has a child with or who what child is. If you are far enough in the series to know the obvious answer to both those questions then you're far enough to where it's not really a spoiler anymore.

    Also as for Asuna I agree. Sure she and Kirito treat Yui like a daughter but they've never really even raised her much less formally adopted her in anyway. I don't know if something happens in the LN but as far as the anime goes I don't think she really counts. Adoptions are fine but at the very least it has to actually be an adoption not just someone saying "you're my daughter now".

    Yeah in that case no, she's just there for Mary Sue material (though that's what all the girls are). I also just wanted an excuse to say that and it fit well into what we were talking about.

    This was a harder list than I expected. While every anime has at least a few mothers most are treated as background characters and thus don't really make nominations worth picking. So it's hard to think of a mother that you feel like nominating.
