Fort Lee police give out tickets for not yielding to Donald Duck

I kid you not. This is a real thing that happened around where I live, too. And I thought NJ was relatively normal...

What are your thoughts on this? Are the police in the right for trying to enforce this law or are they just trying to make a quick buck (in a funny way)?

I think its great. People need to stop. And the cops have good reason with how many incidents happen there.

 

That driver was so full of crap, I could smell it all the way here in Missouri. This sting is definitely fair game. It doesn't matter if its a cop inside the costume or not, it's still a pedestrian! I am so glad they're setting up legitimate sting operations like that. I think they should also keep track of how many of those drivers turn out to be repeat offenders and revoke their license until they take a written and driving test again. If they keep repeating the offense, then they should permanently revoke their license.

 

So... they're complaining... that they're being fined... for not stopping for pedestrians... at a pedestrian crossing?... o.o

 

agreed. That comment doesn't even make sense. So it's okay to risk running a person over if they are in a costume? wtf!

I don't care if the guy is dressed up as Satan or is naked (although you might was to report him for that) you still must yield for Pedestrians. You have a giant metal screaming deathtrap on wheels and they had soft bodies made of meat. On is mildly inconvenienced for having to slow down or stop and the other could die.

I hope this person gets laughed out of court when she tries to fight the ticket.

I can possibly shed some light here for you on this subject.

Here in New Jersey it's the law to stop for pedestrians. They have the legal right of way. It sucks, yeah. You have to sit and wait for them to get to the other curb.

So, as stupid as it sounds, the guy in the Donald Duck suit had the right of way to cross the street, but drivers here are jerks to say in the very least. So, the police got them for it.

No joke, the police here in town do random pedestrian checks to see if you're obeying the law. My mom got caught in one about a month ago.

 

I guess she wouldnt stop if a family of ducks was crossing either

 

She'd probably aim for them....
