Once it gets to the voting stage then I'll pay all the attention to trailers and things because that is the important area of this activity. I also decided against tagging everyone for the initial thread's creation, I want only the regulars to have a say for what could be watched, then everyone will be tagged for the voting.

I am now disappointed about Log Horizon 2, I liked how it was animated for the first season so it will be a little weird at least. I'll probably bitch about it for most of the series [because I am still doing that about Fairy Tail 2014] but I won't degrade the show just because the studio changed as long as it is still the same quality plot as the original.

@Sir-Maddy I completely agree about Aldnoah Zero, apart from that third image. I found the entire thing too good to feel any such way about that episode. I definitely want the 2nd season to come faster now, and once more I must say thanks Meta for making me watch this show which I ultimately rated a 9. I believe this is the highest I've rated one of your recommendations yet.

I will agree with you on that. While I"m not all "THE END IS NEAR!" about the studio switch thing I'm not really happy either. The animation for season 1 was nice and even if Deen does a decent job it's not going to be the same. In my case though I'll probably bet used to the new animation within three or four episodes and stop caring about it because that is what happened with Sailor Moon Crystal.

Well I think you have darker tastes than me (Like how you apparently enjoy torture scenes) so our enjoyment of shows tend to differ at least a little and while this show wasn't exactly super dark it is from the Orobutcher.

Oh so you can get to different animation styles easy huh, I can usually but that is if a series is animated differently from the very start. As long as their changes aren't as large as Fairy Tails then I'll be fine, but if it is as large I won't be shutting up about it anytime soon.

There is nothing that needs thinking about here, I definitely have a darker taste than you for anime. I'm always on the look out for more adult series full of violence and all the accompanying themes that go with it. Torture scenes are one of the things that go along with mature anime so I kind of have to like them, that breaking point that characters are pushed to is usually interesting to see. Tokyo Ghoul had good vocal talent from Hanea, Natsuki during this scene, that's right the same guy that voices the emotionless Inaho from Aldnoah Zero was doing a good job playing the emotional weakling that reached his breaking point in this show.

That reminds me did you ever check out Chaika? It has some pretty dark moments especially in the last few episodes and it's was a pretty decent show overall. The plot takes a couple episodes to really get going but it gets more interesting as the plot progresses and becomes more mysterious.

No one ever provided enough reasons for me to, the most I learnt about the show was that it was apparently good and that her face was then plastered onto everything. No one backed it up or tried to talk me into it so I really wasn't aware of it being too good at all. So you're saying that I should have watched it while it was airing huh, interesting. How good was it exactly by your standards? I don't think pretty decent sounds like too high of praise for the show.

As for the latest Akame, it was good but nothing great, too little happened in this episode for me.
On the other hand Haikyuu and Baby Steps and Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun ended today, all of which had a great ending. I am looking forward to future anime adaptations of Haikyuu, Baby Steps already has a 2nd season confirmed and Nozaki jun would be nice to see more of. I guess Having a good episode of Akame seems less interesting after the great way these 3 series finished.

Well I say pretty decent because I'm trying to be careful not to over hype it because the worst thing you can do is make a show sound too amazing and ruin other peoples fun because it wasn't as good as you made it sound rather than enjoying it for what it did have. But the MC and his sister are both interesting and aren't really afraid to kill as they are basically Mercinaries who were out of a job after the end of the war until Chaika shows up. Not that they murder everyone without mercy and they do fight without killing but it seems like they will kill if they have to to complete the job. The way chaika talks in short broken sentences is odd but kinda interesting as well and there is a lot of mystery surrounding her including if she is really who she says she is. The show starts out a little slow but still has some good scenes even early on. I think you'll really like the last 3 or 4 episodes though because it's where things get even darker. It's not exactly non stop action but it did have some pretty good actions scenes and the show knows when to tell you things and when not to in order to give you a story that you can keep up with but still keeping things unknown. Like that last scene in the last episode I was so "WTF! What just happened!".

Personally I really enjoyed it and I remember it as one of the better shows that season for me. The animation was nothing too special but was still more than adequate so no problems there and I also remember really liking the opening song.

Do want a S2, it wasn't too bad for something that I initially wrote off as crap. Good thing I was convinced to give it a shot. Also of course it is outselling SAO, that show actually is crap and I'm hating every episode of it.

Also the first Terra Formars episode was released today, who watched it and what did everyone think about it?

In a lot of Mecha anime mecha action really just becomes two giant robots fighting punching and shooting each other. But because the martian Mecha are so much more powerful the focus in battles is less "Fighting people in robot suits" and more about trying to destroy the enemy death weapon however they can. Like someone in those comments said it's not so much that Aldnoah is "Different" from a lot of mecha but it does a lot of the things common in Mecha a little differently and they do it right. For example the MC is still the badass who saves the day but he does so through clever strategy no bullshit dues ex machine or something. He also doesn't cry at every given opportunity. The martians are also not overly simpathetic. Example in Gundam Seed the Coordinators weren't evil at all they were just discriminated against by racist assholes and eventually fought back with some becoming a bit racist towards normal humans themselves. But here while characters like the princess prove not all of them are so bad the guys in charge are clearly all racist assholes with a god complex. But the Earth side is pretty much the same except without the god complex. So while it's nothing new it just feels like the wrote the villains right. They aren't bland like in some Mecha or too over the top like in others.

Also if you hate Mecha in general then obviously you aren't going to enjoy a Mecha show as well as others.

Question: Where are the "pretty dark moments" you were talking about? The main thing I really remember is the thing where they opened the panel in the carving kid's flying castle...

If it helps, I liked it. It did have some decent bloody almost-gore spread out throughout the episodes, and later on had evidence of torture (though the actual torturing wasn't shown, sadly...)

Anyaway, quick look coming season tells me I'm watching:
- Chaika S2

- Log Horizon S2

Well most of the truly dark moments happened around there but I vaguely remember something happening earlier that also felt at least somewhat dark. Although I think most of the dark moments I'm thinking of were connected to the mystery behind the plot which has some pretty sinister elements to it meaning it was more about dark implications and dark tone than explicitly shown dark moments. It just always felt like something bad was going to happen and boy did it near the end. In other words the tone of the show itself maintains a darker feel to it than your average happy go lucky adventure fetch quest anime. So it's still something I feel someone with darker tastes like Super might like.

Because while it's not a horror filled blood fest it's not some dazzling adventure of fun and games. A lot of the things they come across are fairly serious and the main characters aren't even technically the good guys. They'd would throw a peaceful world into a state of war without hesitation if Chaika told them to.

Well now that this season is over I'd like to remind everyone the only good thing about Seirei.

It's gonna be either that white haired girl on the side, or the producer in the middle (I'll cry bitch tears if it turns out to be the producer)

It's also been confirmed for 2 cours or half a year

Maddy please, I am terrible at remembering female VAs so this list is irrelevant to me. Only Nakahara is familiar and I don't care for clicking the links to find out who the others are.
But it isn't hard to be better than Glasslip as there are lots of trailers out there that are much better than that show, hell including its own trailer. To me Glasslip's trailer was better than the full show, now that is saying something.
