How fast is your internet?

This is my internet now. Compared to my friend's it sucks

Figured I'd add this one since it should be much better once I move soon.

Can't wait to see how much better my new ISP will be. They advertise around 60 Mb/s.

 

Recently upgraded from 3Mbps DSL to 20 Mbps broadband. Not the fastest in the world but it's definitely a major improvement.

 

Well here's my new ISP on my WiFi:

Not bad considering the time of day and the somewhat older router I'm using.

A better router really does make a difference.

 

It also helps if you have cable internet in a neighborhood that isn't bandwidth intensive. Cable internet shares bandwidth, so the more people using (for example, we'll use your ISP) Charter in your neighborhood, the slower your internet will become. Luckily, you have a pretty good provider.

As for mine, it varies slightly. Right now, I think it's because there are about 5 devices (3 phones, 1 iPad, and 1 computer) connected to the internet in my house alone. There are probably a couple of people using cable internet in my neighborhood. I usually get just above 50Mpbs, which is the advertised speed I'm supposed to get. There was one day I peaked at roughly 60 Mbps in the speedtest. It also varies from server to server. When I used CenturyLink's DSL, Ookla's speed test would show a slower speed to a server that was only about 25 miles away from a small town in Colorado, but a connection from a small town in Colorado using Charter's speedtest to a server that was somewhere in New York, I was getting about 2x faster than what Ookla was showing.

So here is Ookla's report (with current service):
