I think people are being too critical based upon one episode, good things take time. I agree that it was an unusual method of introducing the characters and that it feels like it jumped around a bit but hey this is an original series, this is the only way it is meant to happen. It isn't like it is a bad adaptation, they wrote it this way for a reason so lets have some faith in them.
That animation alone makes it worth watching.

Oh and addressing one thing Mafia said
I like CG in the first place, but don't you think it is awesome of the series to try and make the background characters more lifelike? So many other shows opt for they are standing still, this had several distant shots with a lot of movement, that in itself is kind of unique and worth praise as far as I'm concerned. Making the background characters move is a great addition of realism because really how often do you find an area of people all standing and not moving a muscle?

I... thought it made them look less lifelike and more creepy... Would have much preferred normal non-CG animation for them...

I choose CG moving characters over completely motionless characters any day. Do you ever just see people standing perfectly still in a group without even moving their limbs? How about a crowd of people that all just stay still instead of walking to where they want? The CG movement makes them more lifelike in the way that they are actually doing things instead of essentially being cardboard cutouts.

I didn't say that; I said animate them normally instead of creepy annoying CG.

True it can take a few eps to get a series going , aka like tari tari. The animation is pretty decent, nice and vibrant and really smooth, the CG on the chickens were great!

Also I didnt notice any creepy style animation, but to be fair, i wasn't concentrating on movements in the back ground , ill keep my eyes more open on the next episode to see whats going on with movements.

Well that was hell. 1 and a half page to read through about people arguing about a first episode, Maddy not liking something i expected her to like, Knight defending a genre he usually doesn't even watch.

Anyways, the only reason i watched this was because of Knight's recommedation because it's from PA works and it might be as good as Nagi no Asukara. Straight to the point, i didn't like it. I know i shouldn't base my opinion on 1 episode and i will watch more, but i'm not expecting much from it. What i did love was the animation, as expected. Right away in the first seconds i thought, yeah these people made Nagi no Asukara. But overall, the animation doesn't make up for how boring it was. Sadly.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't count as NTR unless the girl is literally stolen from a previous relationship at least partly against her will (Meaning she isn't just dumping one guy for another). Transfer student getting the girl that idiot childhood friend stared at for decades without confessing until she had already fallen for someone else is just love triangle.

As for my opinion. I didn't love it but I've seen worse. Plus it could pick up a bit over time. Plus there is no way in hell I'm watching Tokyo Ghoul so if I don't watch this I won't be participating in club events at all this season.

The one thing I'm defiantely not a fan of is the "Childhood friend pining after girl but never doing a damn thing" I mean seriously can't we have a story where

    1. He did confess, she said no, he still wants to keep trying
    2. He confessed and they are dating at the start of the series but either break up or she starts to fall for other guy anyway
    3. She doesn't fall for transfer student she only met recently and gets together with the nice guy she actually knows well like normal people
It just feels very uninspired to start things off with "Oh he clearly likes her. Oh she's clearly falling for that new guy. Oh that childhood friend doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell". So not really impressed with this series yet but besides the romance set up not looking like much there is nothing too wrong with it.

I am more for Meta's definition of NTR, a person has to be in a relationship to be stolen. Someone having a crush but never admitting it to someone that then has found a love interest isn't exactly the same thing as NTR.
I am not sure what to expect from the romantic aspect of this show, their group said they have a rule of no love so possibly that could be why the relationships haven't yet been established but hinted at.

It was a possibility that you could like it, there wasn't a guarantee since brand new stuff is always hard to tell from a PV alone. I know I've been let down a few times by PVs. I'm hoping this isn't another time but time will tell.
As long as you keep watching then it isn't a problem, this was the strongest start to a series but neither was another of their series which everyone began liking a few episodes in [myself included despite the genres]. It could come good now that the introduction episode is over but I think having lower expectations is fine currently.

Animation is still amazing so I'd probably watch this even if it was the worst show in existence.

    I haven't liked a P.A. Works show in a while.
The art is really good, but the story and characters really drag it down.

Why not? The first ep was pretty good imo.

Haha, so that's how much animation means to you. Well it is a big plus if the animation is as good as PA Works, but the reason i loved Nagi no Asukara was because it was different and had a good story. The animation was just a big plus.

This show is a bit slow....
But the art is good and I feel relaxed whilst watching it.
That transfer student is a weird dude and the main girl already likes him more than the poor guy that has a crush on her.
Touko is mildy interesting at least, but wanting to become a master gl(ass)smith is a bit of a small dream.

Even if it's gunna be a clumsy romance show. I'm willing to dive head first into it for at least 4 more eps. Then i'll be feeling regret or happiness. Mostly regret. But meh, It's not like I have a life, and those mecha shows had a disappointing start.

Oh come on, Aldnoah Zero had a great opening.
The disappearance of New Orleans with Kalafina singing in the background.
    Absolutely beautiful.

    Probably be used for drama.
