Give our mascots a surname (last name) / family name and win a $10 Amazon gift card.

We are looking to personalize our sister mascots, Kami, Arisu and Midori. Over the next few months we'll be giving them some things like a surname, traits, backstory, where they are from, along with various other personal details and the introduction of their pet.

A surname or family name is a name added to a given name. In many cases, a surname is a family name and many dictionaries define "surname" as a synonym of "family name". In the English-speaking world, it is commonly synonymous with last name because it is usually placed at the end of a person's full name, after any given names.

    Details:
From now until July 16th post here to submit your surname.
Each person may submit only ONE name.
Japanese surnames are preferred but we will accept entry.
Winner will be decided by staff through voting.
Winner will receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

Well, I had a couple of serious names in mind, but, nothing rolls of the tongue like 'Waifu-san' does.

    Kami Waifu
    Arisu Waifu
    Midori Waifu

I believe you will like the following name:

    Bukkake

I will abstain from actually submitting this for the time being.

im not really inclined to the idea of giving the mascots last names. first names are enough for them and its already and established fact that they are sisters.

back story is something that im excited about. i am not participating as literature and me dont really get along but im sure our creative writers in the RP club will be able to bring us a good story. with me being a veteran, id be happy to be in a panel to judge if the story fits what happened in the JD history. even though i said that, i dont want to be spoiled of that the panel decided to be a fitting back story to the sisters.

    Here's a few that I thought of.
純血 (Junketsu, or "pure-blood"). Since most anime sites use an anime character rather than create their own unique mascot, this could fit well that they're not based on any specific anime, and that they were created uniquely for JustDubs (Kami/Midori) / Dubtopia (Arisu) / JAN.
特殊 (Tokushu, or "unique; special") for the same reason above. Very few anime sites have their own personal mascot and instead use one from an anime.
JAN, which can be used as a play on the suffix "-san": ex: Kami-JAN, Midori-JAN, Arisu-JAN.

this. im going with this. the honorific -san is good enough but its much easier to have it as the play on for -chan. it brings the cuteness out more than -san.

so we spell it as JAN but in our minds we say it either as "san" or "chan".

Flurp, glrople, hurg and/or klorp. I'm bad at making names.

I got to thinking about it, and I think their honorifics should differ based on the character themselves -- 'chan' may work for an especially endearing character (going off of their designs, Kami, right?), whereas another character might demand more respect and prefer 'sama', no?

I'm fighting myself from linking those taboo stale Space Jam memes.

I want JAM to win now. So we can call them "Strawberry Jam", "Plum Jam" and "Breakfast Marmalade"

I might scrap this idea. I've had more people in Skype tell me not to give them last names than people who have given suggestions.

I think we should work on the characters themselves and advance them beyond their current state, even if it's just a surname. As it stands, they're just damn fine waifus.

While it's not pertinent to give them a surname, I don't see it hurting anything -- besides, I didn't even know they were sisters, so this would probably work better in drilling in their kinship.
