The New Release Club's General discussion

Okay have started seeing the stuff this season and I'll give some first thoughts on what I've seen so far.

Re:Creators- OMFG that was amazing. I'm a bit disturbed about the out of place suicide scene but other than that everything was great. The animation was top notch, the story looks very promising, and the characters range from interesting to acceptable. This is truly the ultimate "Wish fulfillement" anime. I mean who hasn't fantasized their favorite anime characters appearing in the real world at least once? If you aren't checking this out yet I highly recommend it. IT's also by the people of Aldnoah.Zero, Fate/Zero and Black Lagoon. So you know it at least won't be terrible. The worst it can do is an ending that could have been better like Aldnoah.Zero.

Renai Boukun- That was fun. It's not exactly anything super new but it's a kind of anime I haven't really seen for a few seasons. Like remember that anime with the vampire girl and the boy who "couldn't keep a secret? Or Yamada and the seven witches? It's that kind of harem comedy that just has this certain feel to it. I've always liked this kind of anime and haven't seen one that really fit this feel for a while. The plot is original enough to be it's own thing and the characters are nothing special but do their job. It's just one of those series that is nothing great but is "fun". Oh also one of the main girls is a yandere to the most extreme degree which is interesting. If you like this kind of thing at all I recommend it.

Granblue Fantasy The Animation-Generic but interesting. The Main hero is your typical "boy way in over his head but can't leave people in trouble alone" kind of guy. But he's not a bad character either..... just I'm not expecting any real suprises from him. Rest of the cast seems to be filling their roles as well. But while I'm not seeing this anime surpise me the animation style seems a bit unique and it seems like an interesting fantasy world. If you like fantasy adventure with action then this should work for you.

Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season- Season is starting off on a good foot. Not much to say here. If you liked season 1 you are going to watch this and if not you won't.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations-Well..... according to what I've read the nerd boy Boruto befriends in the first episode does not exist in the manga. This could imply Boruto plans to not follow it's manga counterpart beat for beat except for shoe horned in filler. If that's the case maybe it will find other ways to pad it's run time which I will welcome with open arms. Naruto may have stayed loyal to the manga beat for beat, out side of filler, but the filler was always so forced, random, and pointless it was annoying. Especially when there was so god damn much of it!!!!!! It's hard to say how Boruto will turn out but it seems worth giving a chance at least.

 

Clockwork Planet- This .... was NOT what I expected. Looking at the thumbnail image provided by Mal and such I was expecting something with a slightly strange art style and a slightly dark plot. What I got is an anime straight out of the 90s! The art style, the opening sequence, the presentation. Everything just feels like an anime from the lasts 90s or early 2000s. As far as quality goes this series is probably average but as a 90s kid the sheer nostalgia just makes me geek out. I"m probably going to watch this for that alone and if you at all miss anime from the late 90s I recomend checking this out. I'm serious I feel like I'm a little kid again watching this! Even the character personalities feel like something from the late 90s. If this were the 90s it would probably earn a 6/10 at best but for it to be here now I'd give it at least a 7/10 for the nostalgia.

 

@Metazoxan I have put Clockwork Planet on my To Watch List. Let me know what you think of it, and I may begin checking it out sooner.

 

Guys, I just wanted to say, I'm super excited for that Yuri NTR anime that's airing in Summer. S-Super hyped.

 

Btw everything in Spring sucks except Seven Mortal Sins and Eccentric Family S2.

 

I hate the Spring Season so I'm gonna list what I'm watching in Summer:

You'll have to deal with me bitching about this show right up until it ends btw. Then it'll be on to Citrus, which is another Yuri manga I bloody hate.

 

Been a while guys, work and life got the best of me, still watching anime though, I'm really digging Akashic Records for the comedy and fantasy genres, plus has a good story and lovable characters, took me a while to not get distracted by the midriffs 'cause they're everywhere, second seasons of Berserk, Boku no Hero Academia, and Attack on Titan are getting good, plot wise they are awesome, though the CG in Berserk is distracting as always, and Eromanga-sensei is very different from Oreimo, characters are actually more lovable

Everything is just my own opinion

 

My picks for next season are:

Netsuzou Trap
New Game!!
Symphogear AXZ

And nothing else that seems to catch my attention

I was expecting a full 24 minute 12 episode series.
