My sister is a big movie fan but has never watched anime.

    The story:
She recently asked me if she could watch an anime with me and I ask her which she liked she responded with essentially a shrug and so I took her through some of the synopsis' of the anime I thought she might like she responded in emphatic agreement to vampire, comedy, supernatural and romance type anime, most of all to Blood Lad, Nyan Koi, monthly girls nozaki kun and rosario to vampire.
The last one I let slip out because I knew she liked vampire themes. I got as far as to explain that it was a story about a boy who accidentally enrols at a school for monsters and that he meets and falls in love with a vampire girl. At that moment I had realised my mistake and frantically tried to move on to the next anime but she loved the premise of rosario to vampire (as I had explained it) and insisted that it be one of the ones we watch, I responded by insisting that she wouldn't like but she just proceeded to inquire about it.
I couldn't just tell her that it was an anime for guys because she would have connected the dots and known what that meant and as I introduced it as my favourite she would have thought that I was a pervert and because I seem so stoic and empty in person It would have been a shock for her not to mention very embarrassing for me.
I managed to desist her persistence by tarnishing the image my favourite anime, saying things like the art is terrible, it's so old and the story sucks.
She bought it in the end but by that point I felt terrible.

After that fiasco was over we watched Blood lad, Seraph of the end and we are now watching monthly girls nozaki kun. She really enjoyed Blood Lad, chuckling loudly several times and even if she did have to ask questions throughout the progress of the anime she also liked seraph of the end that is excluding the amount of blood and crying. So far she has found Monthly girls nozaki kun to be "really really funny" so I plan on showing her Toradora next.

Now, my question to all of you is which anime should I show her?
Oh and they need to be English dubbed.

    Thank You!

If you are going to try to introduce her to genres that are more guided towards the female population of the world, then you should probably start with Fruits Basket, Clannad, and Angel Beats as starters. Fruits Basket is a comedy and Shoujou. It's actually geared towards the girls. I was particularly interested in the plot because it was a comedy. It is actually pretty good. And, as we all know, Clannad and Angel Beats are two of the most Feels anime out there. I'm a man, and even I cried at the end of Clannad. I'll admit it. There's no shame in admitting that.

But if you want her to go ahead and get into shounen, then you did well with the introduction of Blood Lad. If your sister isn't afraid of blood, then Blood + would be my next recommendation. It's got vampires and it's got the action. The main protagonist is a female too so she would probably like that. Next, following the Shounen theme, I would suggest Hellsing. Vampires, action, drama, comedy. It's got it. But it's also got some severe language and violence.

I only have two more suggestions that involve vampires. Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Knight. I don't have much exposure to these because I don't watch a lot of vampire shows. My personal opinions are, Vampire Hunter D is a little bit on the rough edge of violence for me and has less plot than I like (But I only watched a few shows so I don't have much of a basis.) and Vampire Knight kind of disgusted me with all the mushy lovey dovey crap. It was too much Love Story for me to handle. But your sister might like it.

If you want more suggestions on what anime to watch then It's pretty easy if you ask in chat on the site. There are usually a few people online in our server on Chatango that have a lot of experience in anime. I can also give you more suggestions as well if you want them. Though I have no more suggestions for vampire themed shows.

Looks like you're gonna have to watch Vampire Knight.

It's @Supernatural-Knight 's favourite anime, both about Knights and Supernatural stuff.

I didn't really like it, but if she likes Twilight, she's probably gonna like it.

I realize it's not on my my MAL (I'll go fix that), I'll give six to both seasons.

My sister isn't a big twilight fan surprisingly she seems to prefer comedy over romance, also shes a bit shallow when it comes to story for example I'm not sure if she'll even fully understand clannad.

    Yeah, but Clannad is overrated.

Did you say how old your sister was?

Dance in the Vampire Bund (very ecchi)

Fortune Arterial (less ecchi than R+V)

Inu Boku SS (not ecchi, no vampires)

Kamisama Hajimemashita (not sure if she'll like it, not ecchi)

Tsukuyoki Full Moon (a bit ecchi, overall similar to R+V)

They're all on my MAL if you want to know my opinion about them.

here are some random, just generally decent anime, some vampire, but most not

Shiki - vampire related / serious / drama
Fifteen-year-old Megumi Shimizu dreamed of a glamorous life in the big city; however, her unexpected death in the quiet village of Sotoba marks the beginning of what appears to be a ferocious epidemic that turns the hot summer into a season of blood and terror. A young doctor named Toshio Ozaki begins to doubt the nature of the disease and comes to understand that to discover the truth, he must abandon his humanity. Meanwhile, Natsuno Yuuki, an antisocial youth from the city, is haunted by the sudden death of Megumi and must realize the pain of friendship in the face of his own tragedy. Toshio and Natsuno form an unlikely pair as they work together to save Sotoba before it transforms into a ghost town of vampires.

    Guilty Crown
    / action / drama
Japan, 2039. Ten years after the outbreak of the "Apocalypse Virus," an event solemnly regarded as "Lost Christmas," the once proud nation has fallen under the rule of the GHQ, an independent military force dedicated to restoring order. Funeral Parlor, a guerilla group led by the infamous Gai Tsutsugami, act as freedom fighters, offering the only resistance to GHQ's cruel despotism.

Inori Yuzuriha, a key member of Funeral Parlor, runs into the weak and unsociable Shuu Ouma during a crucial operation, which results in him obtaining the "Power of Kings"—an ability which allows the wielder to draw out the manifestations of an individual's personality, or "voids." Now an unwilling participant in the struggle against GHQ, Shuu must learn to control his newfound power if he is to help take back Japan once and for all.

Hyperdimension Neptunia / comedy / fan service / more fan service

After years of fruitless war between the four realms of Gamindustri (Planeptune, Lastation, Lowee and Leanbox) over Share energy, the source of their strength based on how much their people have faith in their goddesses, the four CPUs that rule over them have finally signed a friendship treaty. The treaty bans any attempt at claiming Share energy through military force, in hopes of bringing peace and prosperity to their worlds. Yet, a month after the treaty, Neptune, the CPU Goddess of Planeptune, spends her time goofing off and playing games rather than doing her job, leaving her land's Shares plummeting.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica / Drama, Magic, Psychological, Thriller

Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki are regular middle school girls with regular lives, but all that changes when they encounter Kyuubey, a cat-like magical familiar, and Homura Akemi, the new transfer student.

Kyuubey offers them a proposition: he will grant one of their wishes and in exchange, they will each become a magical girl, gaining enough power to fulfill their dreams. However Homura, a magical girl herself, urges them not to accept the offer since everything is not what it seems.

A story of hope, despair, and friendship, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica deals with the difficulties of being a magical girl and the price one has to pay to make a dream come true.

Toradora! Slice of Life, Comedy, Romance, School ( Dont think its dubbed but its so damn good shel get over it

Ryuuji Takasu is a gentle high school student with a love for housework; but in contrast to his kind nature, he has an intimidating face that often gets him labeled as a delinquent. On the other hand is Taiga Aisaka, a small, doll-like student, who is anything but a cute and fragile girl. Equipped with a wooden katana and feisty personality, Taiga is known throughout the school as the "Palmtop Tiger."

One day, an embarrassing mistake causes the two students to cross paths. Ryuuji discovers that Taiga actually has a sweet side: she has a crush on the popular vice president, Yuusaku Kitamura, who happens to be his best friend. But things only get crazier when Ryuuji reveals that he has a crush on Minori Kushieda—Taiga's best friend!

Toradora! is a romantic comedy that follows this odd duo as they embark on a quest to help each other with their respective crushes, forming an unlikely alliance in the process.

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi / Comedy, Parody, Romance

Ookami Ryouko is a spunky and, by some accounts, rather manly high school girl. She is tall, speaks in a traditionally masculine way and is very proficient in fighting. Ookami-san's best friend is the small and high-pitched voiced Akai Ringo. Incidentally, the two are rather flat-chested, a fact the Narrator (voiced by Arai "Kuroko" Satomi of Railgun fame) is all too eager to point out.

Ookami and Ringo are members of the Otogi Bank, a club in Otogi High School that assists students with their problems in return for their assistance on a different problem at a later date; thus the Otogi Bank is effectively a loan institute for problems where you can take out a loan for a solved problem but you have to repay it sooner or later.

The Otogi Bank is able to solve any problem and will go to any lengths to do so, often leading the members to danger or mayhem. Since most of the members of the club are female, another male is needed for the more dangerous assignments. Thus, the scopophobic (the fear of being looked at) Morino Ryoushi is inducted as a member, right after he confesses his love for Ookami...

Just let her watch SAO. It's excellent for beginners. And has some romance. If her interests were more serious, Death Note would be good.

@Negi-Springfield absolutely, bloody love me some vampire knight. Bane of the supernatural genre, still blame it for making me hate the romance genre.

@AngeloDaniele hmm here I was going to recommend some romance ones with a good story, but considering you said she isn't one for a story and just wants comedy that makes things a lot more difficult. But I am amazed that she just came straight out and tried this, my sister hates anime and refuses to watch anything.
Originally I was going to suggest the movies Hal, Wolf Children and Garden of Words. But considering they aren't comedies maybe they should be put aside instead. Hmm a dub comedy. Sorry, I haven't watched an english dubbed anime in a long while, no anime that are strictly comedy are coming to mind.

Thanks for your advice. This may seem weird but I've bought her the Hayao Miyazaki collection box set and she really liked Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away so there's that now. you guys should see it, it looks so cool a truly wonderful collectors item.

Ah! My Goddess!- is a good romance.
Ultimate Otaku Teacher- A YD teacher with little interest in other things.
Yu Yu Hakusho- Has plenty of action.
Spice & Wolf- A romance, and has the light novels that gives you the whole story.

For an ecchi anime, R+V is rather clean, at least in comparison to Queen's Blade. Only a few times in 2 seasons that I saw things that should have been censored. I have been trying to read the manga, and it is radically[?] different, in terms of the actual story.

DON'T DO IT, YOU'LL FEEL DEAD INSIDE AFTER SEASON 2.

As someone who read the light novels before watching the anime, it should be noted that the anime executes many of its scenes much better.

Even thought I knew the outcome of the story prior to watching, I still felt a weight on my cold, black heart when finishing.

@Noobs do I get anything for having watched everything you've just listed? Yeah what an accomplishment, or is it just another sign that I watch too much?
Anyway they want dubbed stuff only so a lot of what you suggested won't be good for them.

I just want to single out your response because wow. I mean thank you. Seriously.
The level of detail and thought is worthy of nothing less than a round of applause. Unfortunately this being a message all I can accomplish is *sincere clapping* therefore I'll just go with the most popular response to such a helpful reply: TK.

latest updates on her taste in anime are that she absolutely did not take a liking to Toradora. She didn't even get through the first episode the reason was that she didn't like taiga at all.
She did however enjoy "when supernatural battles become commonplace."
This information has lead me to make the assessment that she has absolutely no patience at all If things aren't exciting from the first episode then she just doesn't care for it.
So the most important thing is that it start exciting from the get go.

(reminder) so far she has enjoyed watching: "blood lad", "monthly girls" and "when supernatural battles become commonplace"
