Near your right of your screen, in that little bar above the text box, there should be an icon similar to this, [+] . Click that, then click "Spoiler." :)

    Week 22
Sorry this was a bit late.
    This Week's Topic is: Debate
I've heard a lot of these arguments going around lately, some can be really... interesting listening to, so I thought I would ask what everyone one else thought of the matter.

Which do you think students learn better from?
    1) Students learn better by using only computers
    [IMG]
    or
    2) Students learn better using a text book of any kind
    [IMG]
    and why?
Remember, as always, there is no right answer. Just argue with reasonable and respectable facts behind you.

    Good luck!

i think no. there should be a parent guiding what games are suitable for certain age group. also, the child playing must know the basic life principles of right and wrong before playing games AND should know that games are not real.

    No.

I've written two college papers on the subject of video games being beneficial even violent ones. Video games do not corrupt a kid anymore than television, music, and books do. Sure kids can get bad ideas from video games but there are plenty of other places to get sources in society.

If a child acts in an ill way there are other, more important factors to search for: negligence, psychological problems, abuse, bullying, etc.

I take that back. Meant to, but I didn't want to double post.
I went to a Christian school, and in college evolution was relatively irrelevant.
Not that this matters anymore. Just thought I would clarify since I forgot to a while back.

    ANSWER TO THIS WEEK
It depends. The weak minded ones may get affected. I played Unreal Tournament and loved gibbing enemies when I was little. It may have altered my mind, but I knew full well that people did not respawn after dying, with the exception to Heaven or Hell.
In short, I think it possible, but not likely for the mass majority to be really affected.

Short answer: Absolutely not. If anything, video games are a great medium by which to teach and encourage creativity.

If you haven't seen any of their videos, I'd recommend the Extra Credits series. They're a team of game designers, artists, animators and more who have extensive experience in creating video games as well as working with schools and educators to determine how games can be used to address social issues and be adapted to enchance classroom and extracurricular learning.

I know this is a "debate" and I haven't really made an argument. I'll try to update this post with some further thoughts, later in the day. I'm currently on my phone and can't type a long-form response.
