I don't often go for specific singers. In fact, I'd rather music not be accompanied by a singer, in most cases. But when I do enjoy listing to the singer more than the music, I usually prefer range and accuracy within that range. The further the range, the more I respect and enjoy the singer. But for the life of me, I can't think of anyone in particular that stands out, other than Freddy Mercury. He may be hands-down the best singer of all time, but other than him I can't think of anyone else that really stands out.

So I'd like to propose: "Do Vocaloids count?" If so, there are a few more I like from that particular category. Since they are virtually peerless (literally) in range, it stands to reason I'd like them far more than actual singers. Hatsune Miku herself has about a comfortable 4 octave ranges.

    Also I like Reolch:

Yea he was pretty great wasn't he?

For me it has to be Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson that guys has an awesome vocal range just listen to Aces High by Iron Maiden or any of their songs he is simply a great vocalist and he may have lost a step at 57 but still pretty freaking good!

Takahiro is really great though. I think his best vocal performance was on their song Heartache

Freddie Mercury is one of the best vocalists of all time. I can tell from your post that you like singers with a wide range of vocal ability. I would recommend Koshi Inaba, the lead singer of B'z , as someone you should listen to. He has a range of 3 1/2 octaves, a 1/2 octave lower than Freddie Mercury. His best songs from B'z in my opinion are Ring, girigiri Chop, Zero, Don't Leave Me, and Uchouten.

Queen in general was just beyond it's time. When I think of the 80's I think of those guys.

Oh I couldn't really name a specific singer, really any of the music of the 80's come to my mind.
Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, oh man can't go wrong with Phil Collins

You know what I'll make it easy, here's an excellent playlist

I actually have had that playlist bookmarked for a while, so I totally agree with your taste in music!!! I can't believe I forgot about Phil Collins!!! What do you like better, his work with Genesis or his solo work? You should listen to some of the Japanese artists I have listed, especially Mr. Children, Chage and ASKA, and B'z. They all started in the late 80's and were at the peak of their popularity in the early to late 90's ( although B'z and Mr. Children are some of the biggest bands in Asia, with B'z having almost 90 million records sold(which by the is more than Beyonce and almost all of them sold in Japan only!!!), and Mr. Children having about 60 million records sold and both are still putting out Top 10 hits in Japan!!!

That he does. I'm just trying to think what artist inspired him. Piece the veil maybe... Either way, a music artist called Kelly Quinn I think inspired Takahiro to make the music that Takhiro does. I thought that was cool.

    Pushy pushy pushy. :D

So, I have already posted some in my own thread awhile back and the music club too.
Anyone mind saying what they think of this song? It's from a band I really like, VNV Nation. Sounds like a thoughtful song, unlike some stuff I hear on the radio.

I liked the instrumentation, and the lyrics were ok, but I felt that this singer lacked the emotion needed for this kind of song and it was kind of repetitive.

i also like chris cornell, very soulful vocals even if he sings over a hard rock track

also have an appreciation for christina aguillera, because despite everything that girl can really sing her butt off (go past the pop stuff and dig further into her discography, you'll see...)
