What Really Grinds my gears

Getting paged out at 2 in the morning for work for a goddamn password reset.......

 

I'm really hating study laptops. Everything is blocked. Even sites that are useful for studying. JUST DUBS. ORG ain't coming up on the computer anymore. :'(

its brutal sometimes I think that they believe we never sleep.... and are just here to reset passwords for them.....

 

At my last job, I would get home from work after just ending my shift. No sooner would I get in the door than I would hear the phone ring. It was always "'X' is broken can you fix it?" or "I can't access/get into 'Y', can you come back and show me?"

I live 30 minutes outside of town and worked mornings. There was always another technician whose shift started half an hour after mine. But he had a tendency to run late. So he would always arrive about 5 - 10 mins after I got home. I would remind them of this but they would always insist that it's imperative that I return to work NOW.

Of course, I would always arrive only to find that "Bob" (I'm calling them Bob) had already resolved the issue and was confused as to why I had returned to work.

 

Well I fortunately dont have it that bad. I am lucky enough that my roll at the company, has me strictly deal with other IT personnel so they have some what an understanding of the do's and dont's but sometimes they can be forgetful about that stuff.... Luckily as well I can work from home for most of the stuff so its not like I have to get dress (since I sleep in the nude) and get in my car and drive into work lol.

I dont know if I should blame Bob for your situation or the person paging you...... I guess blame would go to both.... Bob for being a tardy worker and the other guy for being an impatient prick...... Its funny how the smallest thing can be seen as a critical issue ah?

I had people call me saying I cant login to Application E its super urgent I need to login and I am there thinking to my self you dont know what urgent means...
to compare I once had one of our storage unit 75 TB of disk space used by 150 server go down. meaning all 150 servers stopped working for a national multi billion dollar company now that's what I call Urgent. and it also amuses me to think that redundancy's never seems to work when they are needed the most..... the Irony of that makes me laugh...

 

Now to steer this ship elswhere...
Search engines are nice when they predict things for you, but when you look up something to an anime and it screams out in one of its predictions "------------ death", it spoils the story. I was watching full metal alchemist, and that was what happened. I am starting to think though that its like that for every character, since the search engines were also giving me predictions on every useful character being dead.

Drinking supply water or irrigation water?

This is just the sort of fuss I make when it snows in after winter, or when there is a giant snowstorm. Don't take it seriously.

its both for us here. our water supplier has to ration water in the city.

 

Sunday its supposed to be 16 degrees C here .... so it should all melt hopefully!

 

You live in a place that has a wet season and a dry season, correct? Must be the dry season. Makes it worse that this is the start of it too, I think.

 

yep. we are in the middle of summer season which usually starts around mid march but it started early in january. i dont mind the heat but its the water supply problem that worries me.
