I decide to post this after Shifter suggested I do this. So here it is. If anyone has anything they want to post, such as your own favorite bands or music, then please, do so.
The following is a list of bands, groups, singers, and (all of the previous 3 are the same to me) songs I listen to, and my opinions/thoughts.
    Avenged Sevenfold
    Combichrist
    Nine Inch Nails
    Ladytron
    Lady Gaga
    Forever Faithless
    VNV Nation
    Skrillex
    Three Doors Down
    Three Days Grace
    Sixx A.M.
    Papa Roach
    Marilyn Manson
    Rob Zombie
    Madonna
    t.A.T.u_
    Skrillex
    White Zombie
    Metallica
    Killswitch Engage
    Vocaloids
    -(???)

Some songs I do not know the band or singer it belongs to, but I do know that it belongs to game, movie or TV series. I will just put the title down, and a particular soundtrack.
    The Lost Highway
    -Rammstein
    -Heitere Mich
    Beyond the Sea
    -Splish Splash
    -Mack the Knife
    Psyche
-The intro song has a fun sound to it.
    Les Miserables
-I actually got interested in the operatic musical. The only thing that helps me, though, is the fact I knew the story itself. No way I can make out all those words.
    GAMES
    Mechwarrior 4
-STUTTE_01 (No clue why it has that name. Simply main menu music, but has a heavy, non-rock or metal, sound to it.)
    Final Fantasy Dissidia Duiodecim 012
-Holds a collection of music from FFI to FFXIII. Quite nostalgic listening to the Bombing Mission from FFVII.
    Motorstorm: Arctic Edge
-Contains music that is perfect for racing with a rally car along side a semi as it plows that poor guy on the dirt bike.
    Transistor
-Mostly instrumental. The main character, a singer, lost her voice during certain events, and some of the songs feel as if it could be her voice being used.
    Phantasy Star Portable Infinity
-Ignite Infinity. I really like that one, but why do entirely Japanese games, with no English counterpart, have English songs?

Anime seems to have a lot of songs I like. I won't list those, too many. And foreign music, namely Japanese, I like, since it is purely sound to me.

I seem to have a strange interest in music, or, according to my sister, I do not appreciate it. She says this because I do not always care for her pop songs. Thing is, these have been on the radio for years, and I am quite tired of hearing those, and other songs with the same sound. To add to that, it feels like these so-called love songs have mistaken lust for love. It is just a personally frustrating thing when I hear that misconception, since I believe this is false: love=lust. In my mind, talk is cheap.

I do not forgo the words in a song. I try to listen for them, and if I find the satisfactory, I will accept it. But if its is like some songs, that have words that can be understood without trying, has words that are on a pitiful subject and has forgettable music (not including stupid music that gets stuck in your head), I will not to listen or even hear it. If I feel that I can hear the ego dripping off of a singer (which is something I get from pop or rap), I will not like it. This is mainly because their voice dominates the song and the subject is himself/herself or related to the same. Utterly wipes out any value the music itself has. I do not hate hearing someone's voice in music, but when it is on a pitiful subject, I have no interest or just hatred.

I will admit I do listen to Lady Gaga. For a pop singer, it feels like her music sounds rather unique. But, when I listen to the words, I can get easily worn out with it, aside from a select few. Sounds like she is a human in heat...

Anyway, I find it best if I do not know about the singer/band or how they look. I listened to Marilyn Manson before seeing what he looked like. Well, there was that one time I saw him on Family Guy, but how much could I trust that? Then I saw the pictures and music videos. Have not had quite the same interest that I used to. Sounds great, but bad mental images.

Rob Zombie. Heard him when I was little, while playing Twisted Metal on Play Station. Aside from "Superbeast," "Dragula," and "Living Dead girl." I have not really listened to all the others, so I do not havea real opinion on it.

I heard some Combichrist tracks on DmC, and that caught my attention. Not all of it, though.

Anyone remember Club Solar from Black Ops 2, the bullet time moments? The song playing in there I really liked. Done by Skrillex. Also done by him was "Make it Bun Dem" on Far Cry 3 to go with the weed-removal-via-flamethrower mission.

Vocaloids are interesting. Read about them in a robotics magazine. They are just programs based off of a certain person(s)'s voice(s). A template voice. Chances are, you have seen pictures of them, which I guess has been labeled as how the vocaloid would appear, or be represented. I think my favorite would be Megurine Luka, since it (she) has a low, calm, voice. Sounds much like a grown woman, in opposition to the popular Hatsune Miku's high pitched girl voice. I do not dislike any of the particular vocaloids, but I do have preferences. The thing with vocaloids is that they are, for the most part, just singing, digital puppets. What you do with them is up to you. It is not their fault if they sound bad, just the user's.

Alright. Done yapping. @shifter101 , you have the floor. I think that is tagalog?

@Core you would be an amazing blogger (assuming you don't have a blog already xD )
I've only heard half of the bands that you mentioned but I guess that just means I have a lot of new music to listen too. I would like to post a proper reply with a full list of the songs, bands and soundtracks that I like however it's 1 am here right now and I really need some sleep, so I apologize for the short post for the moment.

I usually prefer any song if it has a sick beat regardless of what the person is saying (as long as it doesn't have to much profanity or gibberish), hence my multilingual music playlists. I listen to both current releases although I prefer older music (80s and 90s music). Recently I've been listening to a lot of Bon Jovi, Offspring, matchbox twenty and oasis. I started to listen to tagalog songs quite recently so I don't have much to say about them right now. If there was one type of music I would hate to admit listening to is boy bands, I could listen to the backstreet boys on repeat non-stop, it's more of the beat that those songs have rather than the singers for me though, although it's pretty admirable that those guys are still releasing songs together after 20+ years.

Well, that's all for now, I'll try to post a full list by sunday hopefully. Appreciate the effort you put in making the thread @Core :) now of to bed with me

I have heard of these Avenged Sevenfold, Skrillex, Three Doors Down, Papa Roach, Marilyn Manson, Metallica and Vocaloids. My favourites out of these would have to be Papa Roach, Three doors Down and metallica.

One song (or album?) that caught my attention was F.E.A.R. That one I really liked.

Haha, you sounds like you have a similar taste as I do with music. However, I'm awfully attracted to "foreign" music. Such as, to clarify, Spanish music and French music. Of course, I also like Japanese music, which is one of the things that attracts me to anime. Korean music is also a leading contender in the field of music, and I have to say I listen to just as much of that as Japanese. But I think what I look for the most is just something "different".

I've listened to a lot of American music, and don't get me wrong I still like a lot of our bands, but they have a similar "sound". And I don't like that. There are several newer artists that change things up, but for the most part it all sounds the same. I just can't have over a thousand songs on my playlist and feel like I only have a hundred. So that's why I change it up by blending "sounds" together with other cultures. It may sound really strange to other people, but that's just how I like it.

I'd have to agree with Core though on the fact that the lyrics don't appeal to me much. It makes it easier to enjoy the actual music and how it was sung if you don't focus on what is said. I think you learn to appreciate the singer, and hep distinguish the "good" from the "famous". Also with music without lyrics, such as game/movie/show "background music", you learn to appreciate the tones and the arrangement more.

I feel like music was meant to bend emotions, not just be a cute background for rhymes. I feel like more Americans use music to voice their opinions, but if you look at the world as a whole, more people use it to tell a story. Music is a form of poetry, and I believe it should be treated as such. People should put more thought into the arrangements and not just noise. Words can be powerful, but music pierce the soul. But that's all just my opinion.

Blog? Wazzat? Joking right there. I have never done a blog before. Sounds sort of interesting, but I would hate to have to deal with that one idiot who cannot be reasoned, must have the last word, is rude and thinks that because he can type meaner words, he can get the point across.
A while back, I once mentioned salvaging a hard drive and finding 12 Gb of music. Turns out, it was mostly pop, hip-hop, and rap. Like winning 10 cents in the lottery. Judging from the ones you mentioned, though, I do not dislike those ones. The Opposite, in fact. Nice to know you have a similar interest for music.
    Exactly the way I feel.
I hear pop music on the radio, and though it is different from the others, it still sounds just the same. Safe to say I agree with you , feels like there are a lot of non-unique songs.

Nothing is original in Pop music. All the songs are about getting laid and going clubing and how their lif is so hard...., its a god damn annoyance, but I digress

When it comes to music I am an odd ball to..... I am a guy who finds the lyrics in a song as powerful or more powerful then a wicked guitar rift/solo or awesome bass beat.

My favorite Band of all time has to be Pennywise Those guys are amazing..... and during my rebellious youth years help me out quite a bit....
Album Land of the Free? by them is a master piece :)

    Honorable mentions

Bad Religion - Seen them in Concert
When i finally got to see them I was in my twilight years I had a hard time lasting in the mosh pit with all them 18 year old's....

    NoFX

Metallica - Seen them in Concert
Funny story about this concert me and my brother who is about 250 pounds were in the second row front stage and Lars was giving out Drumsticks so I looked at my brother I said ill lift you up so you can try to get a drumstick I picked him up and he was screaming so Lars comes over and looks at him and he's like you want my drumstick (brother goes Crazy) Lars pretends to give him the drum stick then takes it back and whacks him on the hand with it... did that about 4 times till he finally gave my brother the drumstick. :)

Drop Kick Murphy's - Best Live show after Metallica....... Super entertaining

Reel Big Fish - Best Ska Band Ever and Awesome live shows with songs like She has a Girlfriend now and I know you too well to like you anymore. who cant like these guys.....

Slayer - Seen them live too great concert.

Pantera - Didnt see them live but I got to see Damage plan opened for Slayer (Dime Bag Darrell Guitarist & Vinny Paul Drummer for Pantera) they played walk and new level It was freaking amazing.... Funny story about that one too dude was moshing with us with just one leg when Dime Bag saw that He invited the guy on stage to have a shot of Jack Daniels with them then started rifting walk on his guitar it was surreal....... it sad but 6 months after I got to see him play Dime bag Darrell was shot and killed during a concert.... so I was always glad I got to see him play his guitar live.....

    Pearl Jam

    Nirvana

There is more but I dont want to bore you! :)

well, there's a lot of diversity in k-pop ..... actually don't quote me on that since have no idea what they're actually saying (it just sounds good to me)

    and yay for Nirvana

    @shifter101
Ya Nirvana was quite an influential band. There music now that was original! and the songs had meaning to!

And as for Pop I was more talking about the like's of Justin Beiber, Drake & Niki Minaj... I just find music about going drinking/clubing and hooking up with guys or girls trying to get laid is annoying and has no lyrical value to me..... When I listen to music I want the lyrics to speak to me make me feel something either its sadness, happiness or anger...... but that is just me Like i said I am an odd ball :p

But I will admit this Adele is freaking awesome... and even people like Justin Timberlake is tolerable.... I dont hate all Pop music just some I dont even mind Bruno Mars some of his music it quite well written....

Currently listening to Queen - Somebody to Love and its a very beautiful song:) Freddy Mercury was a Genius musician and performer.....

This looks like my iPod from middle school. XD A7X is the most overrated band on the face of the earth.

I'm with you on vocaloid, though. I mostly listen to Miku and Ren x Lin. But it's kind of hard to find good vocaloid, at least in my experience. I find a lot of my music through YT and there's just so many songs and versions of those songs and remixes of those versions when it comes to vocaloid, it's hard to sift through. I haven't heard Luka. I'll give her a listen.

I guess some of my favorites would be:

    Against Me!
    Arch Enemy
    Asian Kung-Fu Generation
    Heaven Shall Burn
    Keane
    The Reindeer Section
    Rise Against
    Snow Patrol

That's by no means all that I listen to, just some that I really enjoy that came to mind, right away.

    And my favorite soundtracks..

    Castlevania (a lot of them)
    Command & Conquer (Tiberium Dawn)
    Command & Conquer: Red Alert
    F-Zero X
    Megaman X
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat
    Starcraft
The Legend of Zelda: ALttP, OoT in particular

My dad got the impression that I liked country music. The reason why was because I did not like it when he played heavy metal at full blast when I was a child. Country did not hurt my ears like metal, so I liked it, hence his misunderstanding. I feel bad for him thinking that of me for all these years. For the most part, country does not catch my attention, save for when it has interesting words, like this one:

    As for A7X:
I am quite disconnected from the fan hive-mind, so I would not really know what is or is not overrated. I do know that I would much rather listen to this then some other bands.
I have found that I have caught an interest in "electronic rock", or whatever genre VNV Nation is part of. What I fear is that I think I find an original band, and it turns out it is just a copy of another band, or that it is just one out of a 100+ similar band with no original. This came to mind when I came across another band, Covenant. If I liked one thing about the musicians in VNV Nation and Covenant, it is the fact that they do not dress outrageously.

I will have to make a post containing soundtracks from different bands, to further give you an idea of what interests me.

I managed to forget a certain band that caught my attention: Nightwish.
I like the band, except for some songs that feel like they have excessive goth to it, particularly in the basic dialogue.

By the way, anyone know what type of music this is? Its from the final battles of Final Fantasy Dissidia Duodecim.
I refer to the first part, since I think these are two combined songs. I like both parts a lot, but there is something about the first that catches my attention
