Yeah we should be able to at least speculate on the mysteries of the series. There is still a fair bit hidden in the fore shadowing.

Well the winners are obvious, Dimension W and Ansatsu Kyoushitsu 2. I'd create the discussion thread now but I really can't be bothered since I'm only doing the bare minimum of what needs to be done before going to bed. That being said I'll create discussions for these soon, until then how is everyone enjoying the new season?

    Decent so far.

Bokudake ga Inai Machi is aiming for the anime of the season award with that super good 1st episode.

Okay the new discussions are made, or rather one is. Since Ansatsu Kyoushitsu was already an activity I revived that thread because really what idiot would storm into a S2 thread without watching S1 first? Let us [hopefully] enjoy Dimension W and Ansatsu Kyoushitsu to the fullest by discussing them to the final ep [again hopefully, not likely though].

@Metazoxan if you end up watching Musaigen no phantom world can you let me know how it is? I'm curious because Kyoani, but they are definitely hit or miss for me with more misses. I typically like how they animate backgrounds now, some character designs seem repetitive but passable while being animated well. The premise of the show is what I'm most afraid of as there are just too many crap shows with essentially that bio.

Sorry not much of a chance of watching this one. I'm already checking out quite a few things this season with 3 shows from last season carrying into this season that I'm watching so I've got a full plate already.

So far beside sequels the season look pretty decent. Clear fan favorites are - Dimension W, Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Prince of Stride: Alternative, Haruchika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru, Musaigen no Phantom World, Schwarzesmarken. Obviously Ajin will join this list once it airs. Still upset that it wasn't even nominated here while it's going to be another Kiseiju type of anime with lots of hype and stuff to talk about.

Divine Gate received a lot of attention, but there is a lot of negativity coming from those threads wherever I check :D

For my own taste, I am actually enjoying the rather unpopular ones Nijiro Days and Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu.

Personally I almost always find KyoAni anime entertaining. Animation is pretty, OST is beautiful and they tend to make those cheerful and relaxing series. It's nice to have something easy-going every season. Other than that, the plot seems OK, I guess. In my case somewhat interesting and dumb at the same time, but better than Tamako Market for sure while I enjoyed TM a lot.

They found a way to give us fan service of course :D

    And then we go :D

Yes aside from the sequels this season things are looking much better than last season. Right now my clear to watch favorites are Bokudake ga Inai Machi (AKA Erased), Dimension W, Musaigen no Phantom World (Very light of heart and comical), Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu, Norn9 (Lovely animation and OST), and Divine Gate along with Dagasih Kashi. Once Ajin airs I'm certain it'll go on my list. Like you i'm slightly annoyed that it wasn't nominated, but i'm thinking we can just make an alternate thread for it if it gets enough attention.

The only show I haven't watched yet is Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu because of how long the episode is. I'm going to try to fit it in sometime tomorrow though because I still would like to see it. All I can say is its going to be rough keeping up with everything. Really doesn't help shows from last season are still airing. Also you had with laughing with how Musaigen no Phantom World was still able to deliver us fan service. Personally I could live without it, but hey i'm not one to complain if their going to add it in there.

I doubt you will like Shouwa Genroku since the reason that you are on this forum means you already prefer dubs over subs (most likely) so you aren't really into whole Japanese culture. This anime heavily relies on knowing their culture and traditions. It has beautiful animation and art, but the story goes slowly and hard to understand even for people who are studying Japanese. However, even though, I don't understand much myself, I found it very interesting and hoping that eventually I'll have a better understanding of it.

    P.S. Heroine rocks.

I'm still a viewer of subs as I am dubs, although it never used to be that way. A good friend of mine said you will miss out on so much if you limit yourself to just dubs and well he was right. It took me some time to adjust but now it doesn't bother me. Some I can only tolerate to watch sub. Still I can't dispute the fact i'm not one for knowing a lot of age old Japanese culture, but id'e find it fun to learn a few things. Their culture and traditions are so rich and vast full of diversity. I'm still going to attempt to watch it as I said and that's all I can really do.

I am not trying to put you off from watching it. In fact, I want you to try it. You might find it just as interesting as I do even tho I don't really understand much of it. Simply wanted to warn that it's very difficult anime which was made more for Japanese people.

Well I'm actually getting ready to watch it now. Would have done it sooner, but got caught up gaming with a friend from work. I was playing the new RWBY game and it was rather fun. For being in Alpha the mechanics are solid and smooth, but the content is so limited right now. That and I also had to watch Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut. I'll get through Shouwa Genroku yet I won't have the time to discuss my thoughts about it until tomorrow. Still thanks for the heads up so I kind of know what to expect.

Well I finished it last night, and had to re-watch it again as soon as I got home. This was very surprising to me because what I expected was nothing like what I was expecting it to be, but in a good way. Never have I seen a show quite like this. Before I knew it I became enthralled forming various hypothesis as to what direction the story was going to take and it has me anxious for the second episode. This would be my first real encounter with Rakugo, although I feel that I've seen it shown briefly in anime I have watched in the past. Still I never really knew the premise of Rakugo, it being a multiple hundred age-old tradition of storytelling with the added in comical anecdotes.

It's truly astounding how the storyteller is able to remember every word & verse, change the dialect/tone/pitch of their voice for the characters in the story, facial expression and slight body gestures that all tie together to captivate the audience. Even going so far as to innovate on the fly due to unforeseen circumstances. Yes I'm hinting at Yakumo. Just the timing and transitioning between characters throughout the stories was right on. It really felt like stepping back in time and witnessing the events unfold.

From what I noticed they're always seems to be a short monologue just before the telling of a story. Still not sure if this is a way to get the crowd to follow the story along better, to feel out the crowd as to what story will be told, or just get the crowds mood set with a comical monologue much like Yotarou did preforming in front of his previous boss. Well enough about the Rakugo and onto the actual story of the show.

I'm going to list some things below as spoiler because I don't want to ruin anything for those who have not seen this. I also urge people to try watching this as well. I can tell you this much, the show isn't aimed towards a young audience. This is also great for anybody wanting to watch something totally different because this does that to a T. It's very realistic, down to earth, and has a mature nature to it. The only real thing bad I can think of to say is maybe folks finding it boring because it just isn't in their taste.

To begin we start with the main character Yotarou, who was just released from prison. Now released he now has nothing to his name. Yotarou is now trying to find a new path with his life, however there was one person that inspired him who did a performance of "Shinigami" being a Rakugo. He sets out to a theater the Artist is playing at. When he reaches the theater he pleads to have Yakumo the artist to take him on as his apprentice since he has nothing. Shockingly Yakumo takes him on to be his apprentice that is a first according to Yakumo's driver who told Yotarou he has never taken on an apprentice before. So now as an apprentice Yotarou starts to begin learning how to perform Rakugo. You really feel Yotarou's desire to learn Rakugo while your watching. When Yotarou gets to Yakumo's home your introduced to Konatsu the only real signicant female character introduced into the show. Her personality being a bit hot tempered throws a book of Rakugo at Yotarou. Shortly after the driver tells him the man in that book is Konatsu's late father and that he was once a famous Rakugo teller. He was also told that Yakumo and him trained under the same master in the past and to server as the young hope for Rakugo. Sadly though Konatsu's father passed away. With both Yakumo&Konatsu to aid Yotarou he begins learning Rakugo. There's still so much more depth, but I'd be here forever writing it all out. A superb first episode and likely my favorite for this season.

    Hey,

I saw a clip from the currently airing series Erased ( Boku dake ga Inai Machi ) and was wondering if any of you had seen it and would recommend watching it.

Would I recommend it? No. This show most likely will become another staple of anime that everyone has to watch at one stage or another so I don't see the point in recommending something like this.

I'm only half kidding, of course I'd recommend but almost everyone that has seen it only has positive things to say so it wouldn't be far fetched if it does become another mainstream title.
From episode 1 I was completely fascinated with it, give it a try and see if it lives up to your hopes for it. For the sake of discussion I'd already be rating it a 9 or 10 myself, I can't wait to see how the 2nd half of the show is handled. It is mostly faithful to the soon finishing manga it is adapted from which is always a plus.

Bear in mind I tend to skip or drop must watch anime.
    *cough* FMP *cough* Clannad *cough*

I should give it a try tomorrow then.
Maybe someday read the manga, I surely don't have a tendency to buy books I don't read, my night stand can confirm.

Iv'e been watching it and I would recommend it. My first impression was it's similar to the Final Destination film in terms of characteristics.
It had a great first episode introduction so you didn't have to wait at all for the setup. If your looking for something to jump head first into, and not wait for a setup to the story this will do that. Certainly at the very least say try the first episode and get a feel for it to see if it's right for you. After that first episode though it delves a little deeper into the horror of things. Hope my brief description helps.

just watched episode 4 of Hai to Gensou no Grimgar and all I can say is ... NEVER have I seen a party in an RPG setting more deserving of death because of sheer stupidity. They made their healer their god damn vanguard! VANGUARD! That is the exact opposite of the role a healer is meant to play!

I won't mention any more for spoiler reasons but dammit never have I seen a stupider group of adventurers in my life. I get their healer was kind of the leader of their group but that doesn't mean you make him the freaking vanguard. In fact the guy directing the battle should be FAR FAR away from the front because if your head get cut off your group falls into chaos!

In other words I'm not even upset the healer guy died. Dumbass was just asking to get offed with that kind of team set up.

Not to mention their hunter can't us a damn bow and they acted like that was okay. IT"S NOT OKAY! GET OUT OF THE DANGEROUS ZONES AND TRAIN YOUR ASS OFF UNTIL YOU CAN USE A DAMN BOW!

I couldn't agree with you more. It left a sour after taste in my mouth. Sure they were getting by but honestly how long did they expect that to last...
Serious case of denial. About the only thing they did right was
    learn some new skills.
