The March issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki G's Comic magazine is revealing a new original anime project titled Release the Spyce on Tuesday. The project will be a collaboration between Yuruyuri manga creator Namori as original character designer and Yuki Yuna Is a Hero creator Takahiro for the original concept. The anime's staff opened an official website and Twitter account.

The anime begins with a lone high school girl named Momo, attending a high school in the city of Sorasaki. Unbeknownst to everyone, Momo is an agent who works for the private intelligence agency Tsukikage, that protects the city and its people. Under the tutelage of her senior Yuki, and her other friends, they keep the peace in the city. The story will eventually focus on six high school girls.

    The anime's cast includes:
You Satou will make his directorial debut in the anime at Lay-duce. Takahiro is credited for series composition as well as original planning. Satoshi Ishino is adapting Namori's characters for animation. SORASAKI.F is credited for the original work.

The anime is also inspiring a manga adaptation titled Release the Spyce - Naisho no Mission (Release the Spyce - Secret Mission) with art by Meia Mitsuki, which will debut in the same issue of Dengeki G's Comic on Tuesdsay. The first chapter has 35 pages. The project is also inspiring a serialized novelization titled Release the Spyce - Golden Genesis that will debut in the supplemental Dengeki G's Novel that will ship alongside the next issue of Dengeki G's Comic on February 27. The novelization will focus on the character Yuki Hanzōmon.

Dengeki G's Magazine teased last month that Namori was providing original character designs for an upcoming project.

Namori launched the Yuruyuri manga in 2008, and the 15th compiled book volume shipped on May 31. JMangaand ALC Publishing released part of the original manga digitally in English before JManga shut down in 2013. The manga inspired three main television anime seasons that Crunchyroll streamed as they aired. The manga also inspired the Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi! original video anime, which received the two-episode Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi!+ television anime sequel before the third season debuted in 2015. NISA licensed and released the first two anime seasons on home video in North America.
