Thus far, director David Yates has gathered his cast for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them in largely traditional fashion – auditioning established actors and making them offers. But Warner Bros. is also digging into a technique used to find the original Harry Potter trio – an open casting call.

The studio has put out an announcement about the role of Melody in the film, described in the casting breakdown as “a haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness. She has an ability to see deep into people and understand them.” Amongst the specifications are that any chosen candidate be between eight and 12 years old, be available for filming been August this year and January 2016, and eligible to work in the UK. And the casting day is coming up fast – it happens on Saturday, July 18. You can find full details on the requirements and venue for the casting call here.

Yates is launching what Warner Bros. already plans as a new trilogy, adapted by J.K. Rowling herself from her book. Eddie Redmayne is starring as Newt Scamander, who plies his trade as a magizoologist around the world, and visits New York in the first adventure. The story takes place roughly 70 years before Harry and the rest have their tangle with the dark forces of Voldemort. Alongside Redmayne, the film also features Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler and, though he’s still only listed as being in talks, Ezra Miller. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them should be out on November 18 next year.
