    Decided a few days ago to write my first game review in a few years. so here it goes. feelfree to leave your thought after reading.

    `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
    Yoshi's New Island is a 2D Side Scrolling Platformer with 3D graphics, released on March 14th, 2014. Nintendo released the game for their 3DS handheld system alongside the Special Edition Yoshi 3DS XL on the same day. Sadly the game did not come bundled with the system.
    Yoshi's New Island is a fantastic game. This game has everything a Yoshi's Island game is expected to have. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are separated again, and it's up to the family of Yoshies to carry Mario across six different worlds, traveling through grassy plains, dark caves, jungle like places, snowy wonderlands, etc... Each world has eight levels to play through, six traditional levels and two castle levels. Each level has five flowers, twenty red coins, and star pieces to raise the Mario clock to a max of thirty seconds that can be found. Finding everything in each level and completing it will fill all three check boxes at the end of each stage. The end of each stage (excluding castle stages) has the roulette goal ring which Yoshi must jump into to finish the stage. Any flowers found in the stage you were in, will show up on the roulette ring. If the roulette lands on a flower, you will be awarded with medals equal to the number of flowers found in the stage. There are thirty medals to collect in each world. (More on medals in a bit) Each castle level ends with a boss fight. Mid boss fights will be against Kamek, and the world final boss will be against an enemy whom Kamek will smack with a magic mallet to make it grow bigger and stronger than normal. After defeating the final boss on stage eight of a world, you will unlock the next world of stages to play.
    After clearing all six worlds, you will be greeted with the final battle with Baby Bowser, (not to be confused with Bowser Jr.) at the end if Stage 6-8, which depending on how you cleared all the stages will be a two or four part fight; this will also determine which game ending you get. If your cleared the game with any Yoshi Wings given by dying multiple times in a level, the stage marker will remain yellow upon completion. If any stage markers are yellow at the final fight, Baby Bowser's battle will be two parts. The first phase of battle is simple, smack Baby Bowser three times. The second phase is a throwback to the SNES Yoshi's Island final battle, requiring you to hurl three big eggs at Giant Bowser's face to win. After the battle, the ending will play, after the ending scene normal Bowser will appear with a text box telling you to clear all the levels without the Yoshi Wings for the true final battle. If you cleared the game with no yellow stage markers, after the first final battle and the cut scene, normal Bowser will appear again and now it's time to fight him for real. The true final battle also has two phases, first phase, throw three giant eggs at Bowser. Second phase against Giga Bowser which is the same as phase two from the not so final battle with the same win condition. After clearing the game, you can decide to be done with it, or go for the 100% completion. By collecting all thirty medals in a world, you unlock a bonus vehicle level for that world. Each world has one bonus vehicle level. By finishing each level with twenty red coins, all five flowers, and thirty seconds on the Mario timer in each level unlocks another more challenging level for that world. Each world has a more challenging level, which brings the total number of playable levels in the game from forty-eight to sixty stages.
    Yoshi's New Island plays just like any other game in the series. Yoshi can eat his enemies to make eggs which he can then hurl at other enemies to defeat them. If Yoshi takes a hit, Baby Mario will float around in a bubble screaming and crying until you rescue him. Yoshi can flutter in mid air, giving him more distance on his jumps to clear bigger gaps in a stage or to avoid enemies. If you don't like the default controls of the game, you can change them at any time in the options menu to the alternate setting. Difficulty curve is fair and balanced. The game starts off very easy to learn the controls and how to how play, with the difficulty increasing a bit throughout each world.This game does not utilize the bottom screen for touch purposes, top screen displays the game screen while the bottom screen displays the number of things collected throughout each stage. Visuals and sound are also what you would expect from a Yoshi's Island game, which brings some of that nostalgic feel while playing, a very nice throwback to older games in the series.
    If you have a 3DS or a 2DS even, and you have played a Yoshi's island game at any time and enjoyed it; then this is a great title for you to have. If you have never played Yoshi's islnad before, this game is still worth checking out, this game provides just enough challenge to keep players coming back for multiple playthroughs for fun, or for that 100%, especially on long car trips or plane or train rides. Try before you buy if you want, But this is a game you can't go wrong with. Great game for kids old enough to know how to play on a 3DS, and a fantastic game for older Mario, Yoshi, and/or Nintendo fans in general. Yoshi's New Island is a great game for your 3DS library, I highly recommend it.
    This reminds me, does anyone remember the Yoshi Story game for the N64? Man that game was my childhood.
