    I've been thinking about this.

Every anime company that doesn't dub everything makes massive mistakes. All of them let bias get in the way of doing the obvious and dubbing some of their most popular shows.

Let's look at some of the sub-only shows that clearly should of gotten dubbed, mostly due to their immense popularity with one or two exceptions.

    Aniplex of America

    - Monogatari
    - Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend
    - Nisekoi
    - OreImo
    - Plastic Memories
    - Eromanga Sensei
    - Valvrave the Liberator

    Sentai Filmworks

    - So I Can't Play H?
    - My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy
    - The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat
    - I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job
    - Rail Wars
    - Non Non Biyori
    - Engaged to the Unidentified
    - Triage X
    - Spy Classroom
    - Life as Inukai-san's Dog

    Discotek Media

    - School Days
    - Recently, My Sister is Unusual

    Crunchyroll

    - I'm Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class
    - The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses
    - The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
    - Please Put Them On, Takamine-san
    - Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive? (No It Cannot!)
    - My Stepmom's Daughter is My Ex
    - Days with My Stepsister
    - Psuedo Harem

    Media Blasters

    - My Wife is the Student Council President
    - Yosuga no Sora

With the exception of maybe Life as Inukai-san's Dog, all of the rest of these shows were popular. Some of them were even among the most popular anime of their seasons or even of their years. Monogatari in particular remains one of the most popular anime of all-time. I included Inukai-san's Dog on the list because, with how short it is (basically the length of a movie), it was more than popular enough to deserve a dub.

Now, compare that to the Funimation list and the Viz Media list. There just straight up isn't a Viz Media list since they always dubbed everything, with the exception of Hitman Reborn, which was nowhere near popular enough to deserve a dub at 200 episodes.

    Funimation

    - Hybrid x Heart: Magias Academy
    - OniAi

The list of Funimation anime that undeniably deserved a dub (but didn't get one) is only two. Considering how many anime they licensed over the years, that's insanely impressive. Hybrid x Heart had a dub announced as well, it just never came out.

Now, look at the reasons these shows didn't get dubbed.

OreImo, My Stepmom's Daughter is My Ex, and Days with My Stepsister all have elements of what could be considered incest. Most of the rest of the shows are either Ecchi or at least have nudity. I don't think that's a coincidence. In Japan, violence is considered much worse than nudity, where as nudity is seen as normal. In the West unfortunately, nudity is considered much worse than violence, where as violence is seen as somehow normal. So these Western companies have a clear anti-female nudity bias that gets in the way of making the right business decision.

This is why dub fans need a company like Funimation or Viz Media. What made those companies great was that they didn't pick and choose which shows they would dub and which shows they wouldn't. They simply dubbed everything they licensed with an extremely rare exception. When I read "Funimation licenses (name of an anime)" I could be 99.9% certain that anime was going to get dubbed. Now days we read "Crunchyroll licenses (name of an anime)" and we have to wait months to find out if their going to dub it or not.

Having a company that dubs everything they license is essential for dub fans because it leaves no room for that company to choose not to dub something for political reasons. There is no way Funimation wouldn't of dubbed Please Put Them On, Takamine-san. Can you imagine them licensing it but not dubbing it? The outrage would of been massive, because the expectation was that they dub everything, no matter what. They don't get to decide that they find it offensive, or that they don't like it because it has nudity or some other political reason like Crunchyroll does.
