Vin Diesel Says Xander Cage Will Ride Again
Third xXx shooting in December, teases the actor

Thanks to the success of the latest Fast & Furious, Vin Diesel probably has a much easier time landing meetings with studio executives, and of course he’s ready to push some projects through that have been lingering in limbo. But while you might think he’d be trying to get some traction on his long-gestating Hannibal (Barca, not Lecter) film, it appears he’s actually been gearing up a return to one of his old roles, signalling via Instagram (picked up by Collider) that he’ll be revisiting Xander Cage for a third xXx film.

It’s even more surprising since he didn’t actually appear in the second entry, 2005’s xXx State Of The Union, which saw Ice Cube swap in to take on the main role (a different agent in the xXx program). But there have been rumblings that Diesel might return, and despite the seeming lack of interest in the first xXx, in which he played Cage, an extreme sports rebel corralled into working for the government, he still wants to come back for another crack at the idea.

And we suppose it makes some sense in the eyes of Sony, who would want to see someone who has appeal starring in something that, if you squint really hard, sort of has the same target as theFast franchise. Whether it comes to pass, of course, is another matter: Diesel’s famous for drumming up support for future projects that don’t quite pan out (see the aforementioned Hannibalfor proof of that).

He’ll be back on our screens in fighting form for The Last Witch Hunter, which arrives here on October 23. The latest trailer is lurking below.
