Game publisher Idea Factory announced on Wednesday that it is replacing Yuichiro Umehara with Kousuke Toriumi in the role of Ichiya Mitsumori for its upcoming PlayStation Vita game Variable Barricade. The staff had announced the casting in November.

Talent management company Arts Vision reported in May that Umehara was hospitalized after being diagnosed with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), an autoimmune disease that affects the nervous system. The post at the time said that Umehara would take an indefinite hiatus from work. Umehara has also been replaced in severalother current and upcoming roles.

The talent agency announced on July 30 that Umehara has been discharged from the hospital and will slowly return to work. Square Enixrevealed on Friday that Umehara will have a voice role in its World End Heroes iOS and Android smartphone game.

Idea Factory's Otomate label will release the Variable Barricade romantic comedy adventure game on October 11 in Japan for PlayStation Vita, though it was originally announced for PlayStation 4 as well. The story follows Hibari, whose grandfather sends her four handsome but suspicious men as candidates for marriage. The game also stars Nobuhiko Okamoto, Kenji Nojima, and Hiro Shimono.
