It is a popularity contest. Get over it. If this competition mattered for anything other than bragging rights I would say differently, but it doesn't.

If you can't come to grips with the fact that other people have different tastes than you, then these games are only going to piss you off even more.

Well, that's pretty much why it's so much fun. If every entry was well known, and everyone was voting according to the theme rather than whatever reason they choose, every round would most likely be a Zero-All landslide. If you want a nomination to go further, you'd better be prepared to put in the extra effort in pics and text so that everyone can see why they should vote for them.
