Thoughts on the Dead Or Alive game series?

Popular japanese game series that has a lot of fighting.

I don't know. I am no expert on the CQC combat, and it is somewhat disturbing knowing that focuses on women. But the photo mode is a good opportunity for me to draw as if the fighters were mannequins, while listening to the music.

 

I like fighting games quite a bit TBH. The Xtreme series however...

Is that the game with the boob physics?
I don't think my graphic card is good enough to render anything over a B.

Uh... I suck at fighting games so this wouldn't interest me in the slightest anyway.
Just you wait, they'll merge Mortal Kombat with this one day and people would go crazy. I'll have my popcorn ready.

Gotta agree though, about the breasts. Seems to be the selling point of the game, though the combat's not bad either.

 

Well the last one is on PC...and PC has mods...

I understand there are particular... mods out there, and I have also read that the creators of the DOAD series did not want those particular mods done to the game. Sorry, but what would you expect with a game like that?

 

My favorite video game series. The day they announce DOA6 is the day I'll be interested in joining this generation. That said if it were to follow the SFV "games as a service" model I would basically quit gaming forever unless we start getting a lot more anime games.

For all you complaining about the boob physics, they've got butt physics now in DOAX3 and I'm sure it'll be in DOA6. DOA5 is very good about giving the men sexy outfits too so I don't know how anyone could complain. Of course it favors the women more cause more men play it, it's a simple concept.

 

Oh, glorious DOA <3 Back in the days I was madly in love with Kasumi. Maybe I still am Does anyone remember that awful DOA movie?

Never played DOA. But I love the fact that it exists

 

My first experience with the genre of this series was back when I was a sophomore I believe. Back in my younger days I was always a avid player when it came to fighting games. Be it Tekken, Dynasty Warriors, Street Fighter, Soul Cal, Mortal Kombat, & many more. Anyway my first experience to this was with their Dead or Alive 2 for the PS2. Compared to every other game I had played up until this point honestly failed in comparison to it. I'll explain why.

Firstly I noticed it's unique fighting style. You had intricate fight moves, combo's (even team combo's), 360 degree movement, and lastly counter attacks of low mid and high. This made it much more intricate and exhilarating at least for me. You had to think of should I take charge with this chain of attacks, side-step out of oncoming attacks, watch to execute a counter, or quite possibly use the environment to gain a advantage.

The next part was the English VA's seemed to suit the roles very nicely. It's a damn shame they have moved away from this over the years. To add to it depending on the higher difficulties you could unlock costumes for the characters. This gave you a fun objective to strive for. Even some characters could only be unlocked due to finishing certain objectives. And the visual aspect is arguably the best if not one of the best out of any fighting game. Over the years I feel it has only gotten better with the introduction of new characters, costumes, map environments, improved visuals, fight-styles, online player vs player, and the list goes on. For a company that nearly went bankrupt they've come back swinging.

Now I could talk about the Beach Volleyball games however, I feel that I'll save that for another time.​

 

I loved doa4 when it came out (Kokoro player) I still haven't played 5, will probably download last round when my ps3 arrives & I work through a few of my other games.

 

I wish this series was still alive I love it
