What a terrible night to be a Castlevania fan..

You may already be familiar with Konami's recent "fall from grace". Its no secret that the once iconic publisher has been distancing itself from its most well known and beloved series, allegedly harassing employees, and alienating (and separating with) game director Hideo Kojima.

It should come as no surprise then, that Konami has, seemingly, decided to focus more on their assets outside of the gaming industry. The company has placed a greater focus and interest in gambling. In particular, creating Konami-themed pachinko machines (a popular gambling game in Japan).

As such, Konami has recently announced a Castlevania-themed pachinko machine. Selling itself on "erotic violence".

Konami has stated that, despite speculation that they are no longer interested in creating console games, they intend for their most famous series to "live on". But in what capacity?

We can only hope that Konami keeps their series alive in a capacity that will appease fans and stay true to their roots (by, I don't know, maybe making more games and not harassing their teams?). One has to wonder, with the recent scrubbing of Hideo Kojima's name from Metal Gear Solid V and the cancellation of Silent Hills, do classic series such as Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania have a place in the company, anymore?

This, obviously, isn't the Castlevania revival that fans have been hoping for. But, at least we can take some solace knowing that someone is carrying on the torch.
