The Ancient Magus' Bride TV Anime's Cast, Staff, Streaming, Visual Revealed

The staff for the television anime of Kore Yamazaki's The Ancient Magus' Bride (Mahōtsukai no Yome) manga revealed the anime's main cast, staff, and visual on Friday.

The visual contains a quote from the opening lines of the manga: "Beyond the dull walls of cement... deep, deep within the ancient, misty forest... There lies another world. That world is far closer to ours than you might imagine."

Crunchyroll revealed on Thursday that it will stream the anime.

The main cast, returning from the The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star (Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito) three-part prequel anime, includes:​

• Atsumi Tanezaki as Chise Hatori​
• Ryota Takeuchi as Elias​
• Kouki Uchiyama as Ruth​
• Aya Endo as Silver​

Most of the staff from the three-part prequel anime is returning for the television anime. Norihiro Naganuma is directing the anime at Wit Studio, and he is also in charge of the series scripts. Aya Takaha is penning the scripts. Hirotaka Katō is adapting the character designs for animation. Yuko Kobari is in charge of color design, and Yusuke Takeda is the art director. Mayo Suzuki is director of photography, and Shinya Sugai is the CGI director. Chie Nishitani is credited for 2D work. Kumiko Taniguchi is supervising the special effects, and Ayumi Arahata is credited for special effects. Daisuke Imai is editing, and Junichi Matsumoto is composing the music. Flying Dog is producing the music in collaboration from BASiLiCA. Shoji Hata is the sound director.

The anime will premiere in October and will run for two consecutive cours (half a year).

The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star three-part prequel anime's first part had its limited two-week run in eight theaters throughout Japan starting on August 13, 2016, and was later bundled with the sixth compiled volume of the manga in December. The second part opened in seven Japanese theaters on February 4, and will ship with the seventh manga volume on Friday. After its two-week run in theaters starting on August 19, the third part will ship with the eighth volume of the manga on September 9. The Blu-ray Disc of the anime will ship this winter. Crunchyroll began streaming the first part last September. Yamazaki wrote the original story for the anime prequel.

Wit Studio also animated and revealed a promotional video for the manga in March 2016 that showed select scenes from the manga's story.

Yamazaki launched the series in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine in 2013, and the series moved to Comic Garden in 2014.

Seven Seas publishes the manga in North America, and it describes the story:
Chise Hatori has lived a life full of neglect and abuse, devoid of anything resembling love. Far from the warmth of family, she has had her share of troubles and pitfalls. Just when all hope seems lost, a fateful encounter awaits her. When a man with the head of a beast, wielding strange powers, obtains her through a slave auction, Chise's life will never be the same again.

The man is a "magus," a sorcerer of great power, who decides to free Chise from the bonds of captivity. The magus then makes a bold statement: Chise will become his apprentice - and his bride!

Seven Seas released the manga's sixth volume in January.

Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it is now streaming the second episode in the OVA series. The episode is available worldwide outside of Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Shochiku began streaming a video to announce the project on Friday. The video is the same as the video Wit Studio released in March 2016 to promote the manga, but features the October anime announcement at the end. The video also mention's the anime's first limited edition Blu-ray Disc, which will ship on November 29.​
