The game Fortnite and the fanbase of Christopher Nolan might not be the natural crossover most would predict. And yet that's where Warner Bros. (and the director) chose to debut the new trailer for his latest head-scratcher of an action-thriller, Tenet. Fortunately for those who don't dabble in that virtual world, it's also online in a more conventional sense.

Nolan being Nolan, the plot is still something of a mystery, but we can divine that John David Washington's central character is on a mission to prevent some cataclysm, a conflict described as worse than World War III. And it involves a suspicious group who can be contacted via the use of a word, "tenet". What follows is a blend of action scenes, talk of "inversion", and lots of reversing time or actions. It's not strictly time travel, though, apparently. Oh, and there's Robert Pattinson in sharp suits, planning to crash a plane. Just not from the air. Dramatic enough, though...

Assembling a cast that also includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Debicki and Clémence Poésy plus Dunkirk's Kenneth Branagh and Nolan's lucky charm, Michael Caine, Tenet is still listed for a 17 July release, though the trailer doesn't confirm that. Which means Warners is still waiting to see if it'll actually be able to open in the summer or if it'll be delayed until later in the year, with the studio's release schedule shifting like dominoes after it.
