Need a plus one to the U.S. film premiere of Mazinger Z: Infinity? How about a three-foot replica of the giant robot? Bandai Premium opened pre-orders for the Kyūkyoku Zōkei SP (Ultimate Modeling Series SP) Mazinger Z Mazinger Blade version. The action figure is to commemorate the film's theatrical opening and faithfully reproduces Go Nagai's robot from the 1970s.

The action figure comes with a 64cm (about 25in) sword, the Hover Pilder plane, and the Jet Pilder accessory.

Like any good date, the Kyūkyoku Zōkei SP Mazinger Z Mazinger Blade version will arrive fashionably late for the premiere. He's not scheduled to ship until May and he isn't cheap. The action figure costs 145,800 yen (US$1,318), which even more than the previously released DX Soul of Chogokin Mazinger Z figure released in 2012. That one-foot tall Mazinger Z celebrated the 40th anniversary of the launch of Nagai's original manga and the 15th anniversary of the Soul of Chogokin figure series. Still, the most expensive Mazinger Z goes to the two-foot tall robot figure released in 2009 for two million yen (US$20,400).

The "Kyūkyoku Zōkei" line previously announced a similarly sized action figure of Mazinger Z's foe Garada K7 last year. The figure shipped in October and cost 140,400 yen (US$1,255). So start saving your pennies or yen now, kiddies.
