Solo: A Star Wars Story To Premiere At Cannes
    [IMG]

Some have wondered as to whether origin tale Solo: A Star Wars Story will be ready for release given the turmoil of its production. But not only will it hit cinemas, it'll have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

It's an unusual move for a Star Wars film, with the franchise usually hosting a premiere in Los Angeles, London or some other big city. Yet Hollywood is no stranger to launching large movies at the festival, so it makes sense to give Solo the biggest platform possible, with the potential for some positive buzz ahead of the worldwide release.

The film charts the early days of Han Solo, here played by Alden Ehrenreich, and will follow how he meets Wookiee pal Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and fellow rogue Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). We're also introduced to a host of new characters, including those played by Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Solo's Cannes debut is set for 15 May, with the film opening on 24 May.
