Silver Spoon Manga Will Resume on August 31

This year's 39th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Hiromu Arakawa is resuming her Silver Spoon manga in the following issue on August 31. The manga will be featured on the following issue's cover, and the magazine will offer readers a replica of the cover's art as a present. The manga went on hiatus in February, shortly after returning from an eight-month hiatus in January.

The manga centers on Yūgo Hachiken, as well as the cast of characters that surround him when he decides to attend an agricultural high school in the countryside. Yūgo's decision to attend an agricultural school is influenced in part by disagreements with his parents, but when he gets to school, he finds himself not used to the realities of a life of farming, agriculture, and animal husbandry. To keep up with his classmates, he finds that he needs to adapt, learning to respect the knowledge of everybody around him.

The manga's 13th compiled volume revealed in June 2015 that the climax of the manga's story will be "imminent."

Arakawa created Fullmetal Alchemist before penning Silver Spoon. Silver Spoon won 2012's Manga Taisho (Cartoon Grand Prize) and Booklog awards, and 2013's Shogakukan Manga Awards in the boys' category.

The first season of the anime adaptation of the manga aired on Fuji TV's Noitamina late-night programming block in summer 2013 and the second season premiered in January 2014. Aniplex USA released both seasons on home video, and Crunchyroll streamed both seasons of the anime. A live-action film adaptation opened in Japan in March 2014.

The television anime adaptation of Arakawa's The Heroic Legend of Arslan manga premiered in April 2015 in Japan, and the second season premiered in July. Funimation streamed both both seasons as they aired in Japan.​
