New cast members will join the second Kamisama Kiss anime series, according to an announcement at the "Hana to Yume Anime Festival" on Sunday. Showtaro Morikubo will join as Ōkuni-nushi, Hinata Kusunoki will play Mamoru in his young monkey form, and Daiki Yamashita will play Mamoru in his child form. The event premiered a new promotional video that is now streaming on the anime series' official website.

The cast will be returning from the first season with the following members:
The staff will be returning as well, with Akitaro Daichi directing the series at TMS Entertainment. Junko Yamanaka will provide character designs, and will also serve as animation director.

The story of Julietta Suzuki's original manga begins with Nanami, a girl who finds herself homeless after her father leaves. She comes to the home of a man who offers to let her stay over — only to discover it is a Shinto shrine. The man happened to be a deity who has just transferred his status and his yōkai to Nanami. That yōkai's name is Tomoe, and a contract between him and Nanami can only be sealed in one way: with a kiss.

Suzuki launched the manga in Hana to Yume in 2008, and Hakusensha published the 19th compiled volume in Japan on September 19. Viz Media will publish the 16th volume in North America in October.

The series already inspired a 13-episode television anime season, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Funimation released the series on Blu-ray and DVD on February 11.
