The wraparound jacket band on Sakurako Gokurakuin's 2nd Brave Star ☆ Romantics manga volume announced on Saturday that Gokurakuin's earlier manga Sekirei is returning as a regular series. Sekirei will resume in this year's 10th issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine on May 2. The advertisement for the manga has the subtitle "Kanojo no Inai 365-Hi no Koto" (About 365 Days Without a Girlfriend). It further teases, "One year with his girlfriend gone. One year until she returns."

Yen Press describes the beginning of the original manga:
Minato Sahashi is a rounin, a two-time loser who's failed his college placement exams. Just as he's contemplating giving up and heading home, though, a chance encounter changes his life forever! Enter Musubi, a girl who literally falls into Minato's life! Musubi is a Sekirei, a modified human caught up in a game in which only one of her kind can be left standing. In order to be victorious in this contest, though, she needs to find her Ashikabi (her fated partner)...and guess who fits the bill??

Caught up in battle he barely understands, can Minato survive "The Sekirei Project" and emerge victorious? Either way, with his buxom new cohort by his side, his life will certainly never be the same!

Gokurakuin had originally stopped the Sekirei manga in August 2015. She began the series in 2004 and the series inspired two anime adaptations in 2008 and 2010. Funimation has released both anime in North America. Yen Press is publishing the Sekirei manga digitally, and will start publish the manga in print in July.

Gokurakuin serialized the manga Kaisei no Caricature in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine from September 2015 to December 2016. She was credited with the original idea, setting, and storyboarding, while Hiromu Mogi wrote the story and Sora Gōto provided the art. Gokurakuin launched Brave Star ☆ Romantics in November 2015.
