The god of war and guardian of his namesake planet, Mars, was once sealed away by Seiya, but time has passed and his revival is at hand. Meanwhile, Saori Kido (Athena) is raising the boy Kouga, whose life Seiya saved, and he's been training every day to become a Saint in order to prepare for the coming crisis...

Unaware of his destiny, when Kouga awakens to the power of his Cosmo hidden inside him, the curtain will rise upon the legend of a new Saint.

They've already moved past the Mars chapter and on to a new arc. Personally I did have my doubt about this show since it's not by the same people who did the first one. But so far I have been enjoying it. It's not as exciting as the original Saint Seiya, but that was a pivotal turning point for me as a kid which got me enjoying anime. So of course I'll always like the original more. But its nice seeing all the references to the original and even seeing Sagittarius Seiya with todays animation. The story is very typical shounen action/adventure. Mainly fighting centers the conflicts, protecting Athena like in the predecessor.
