A collaborative event for the Robot Girls Z anime and the Miracle Robot Force project announced the cast members for "Team-M" in the "Fukkatsu no Chika Teikoku!? Robot Girls Z vs. Nazo no Sandai Shuyaku Robo!" (The Resurrected Underground Empire!? Robot Girls Z vs. the Three Mysterious Major Lead-Role Robots!) short anime on Saturday. The Robot Girls Z franchise's new Blu-ray Disc release in Japan will include the new short.

The event also announced that the "Super Robot Manga Matsuri Gaiyō" event will screen the anime short on November 12. Sairenji and Otaka will attend the screening event. The event will also screen Mazinger Z and include guest talks.

Poeyama is directing the short, while Kazuho Hyodo returns to pen the script. Directions, Inc. is animating the short. The returning cast members include Mariko Honda as Z-chan, Inori Minase as Gre-chan, Kazusa Aranamias Grenda-san, Aya Hisakawa as Baron Ashura, Nao Tōyama as Doublas M2, and Yukiko Morishita as Garada K7.

The new Blu-ray Disc release is slated for January 10, 2018 in Japan. It contains all nine episodes of Robot Girls Z and episode 0, episode 3.5, episode 6.5, and episode 9.5, as well as all six episodes of the Robot Girls Z+sequel anime.

The Robot Girls Z anime is the current incarnation of Toei Robot Girls, the project that turns Dynamic Planning and Toei Animation's "legendary super robots into beautiful girls!!"

The stars of Robot Girls Z series are Z-chan, Gre-chan, and Grenda-san. Together they (try to) defend Photon Power Town from "the enemy, the mechanical beast girls of the underground empire." The villains are led by Baron Ashura, the underground emperor "bent on world domination(?)" — or at least, town domination.

Crunchyroll streamed the first series as it ran in Japan in 2014. The television anime inspired a compilation movie in May 2014. Crunchyrollalso streamed the Robot Girls Z+ net anime shorts as they debuted online in 2015.
