The January 2017 issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX is announcing on Monday that Rei Hiroe's Black Lagoon manga will resume in spring. The manga has been on hiatus since early 2014. The magazine is also announcing that Hiroe is working on an original television anime project titled Re: Creators that will premiere in 2017.

Hiroe is credited with providing the original concept and character designs for the anime. The magazine announced in November that Hiroe was planning a "big new dimension project."

Ei Aoki (Aldnoah.Zero, Fate/Zero) is directing the anime at his studio TROYCA. Aoki and Hiroe are working together on series composition.

The first visual for Re: Creators features a character with long white hair and red eyes. A teaser trailer will debut by the time the magazine ships on Monday. Shogakukan and Aniplex will debut the full first promotional video at Comiket 91 on December 29.

Hiroe is best known for his Black Lagoon action manga, which tells the story of a four-man team of mercenaries who operate in Southeast Asia, smuggling goods with their World War II PT boat and performing odd jobs that often involve and end up in shootouts. Hiroe launched the manga in Shogakukan's Sunday GX magazine in 2002. Shogakukan published the manga's 10th volume in May 2014. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America, and it released the 10th volume in April 2015.

Madhouse adapted the manga into two television anime series in 2006, and the Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail OVA in 2010. Geneon released both series on DVD in North America in 2007-2008, and Funimation re-released the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2012, and again in 2015.

Oh son of a ***** I nearly had a heart-attack after reading this. Not once did I think Rei Hiroe had plans to resume the manga. I'll be reading this as quickly as it can be translated. I'll gladly drop a show or two this Spring so long as I can read new content. I'm awfully curios about this Re: Creators project as I've only been able to find visuals vs a trailer. Damn you region lock why you got to get in my way

Above all if I get a 3rd Season Anime Adaptation... jeez I didn't even think that far yet. I don't have a clue what I'll do. Most likely lock myself away and binge watch the entire series.

But from a realistic point of view that's unlikely due to how Madhouse has changed so much over the years. This video outlines that almost perfectly.
