I felt like this doesn't belong in the HoE, so I decided to post it here. Here goes:

A few weeks ago, after being shot down and hitting dead ends in "relationships" more times than he can count, my friend has just declared that he is asexual (even though I know he basically ragequit after trying to start any sort of relationship with any girl).

However, it's no secret to anyone in existence that he still watches...well, porn. So my question is this: can you watch porn and be aroused and still be asexual or do you have to be 100% immune to arousal from any sort of stimuli (males, females, transsexuals, pornography, etc.) to be asexual. What's your opinion?

Also, to any mods, if you feel that this does belong in HoE (yeah right), feel free to move it :p

Simple answer? No. No you cannot. ZERO arousal. Your friend is frustrated & jaded, not asexual.

^ Pretty much this. Not asexual, myself, so I can't speak from experience. But, by definition, asexual refers to people who don't have sexual feelings or desires of any kind.

That said, pursuing a relationship is not, in and of itself, disqualifying of asexuality. But, the fact that he's into porn suggests that he does, in fact, have some kind of sexual desires or needs. So, it seems unlikely that he is asexual.

As these two have said. The fact that he still watches porn for the obvious reasons, means that it's very unlikely he's ace.
I myself can experience "blood flow", but I rarely ever experience the urge to act on it in any way whatsoever (and even then, it's not common that I do). So from what you're saying, he's clearly still acting on the urge a significant amount.
As Baconman said, being in or wanting a relationship does not mean you aren't ace, myself being the example again with kaylentine. The terms used to describe me would be "Asexual heteroromantic."
So yeah, your friend is just frustrated.

I'd say that it might be possible to watch porn while still being asexual, if you do it super super rarely (on the order of once a year). But yeah, this dude sounds like he just pulled a "well I don't even want to date people anyway, girls who rejected me!".
Sometimes I feel like there should be a separate category for people who find very few people attractive (and not with the classical definitions of beauty ie only movie stars are attractive enough to find sexy), a sort of half way asexuality where over the course of your life you only have sexual desire toward approximately 3 people. Granted this might just be me feeling like that compared to what ideal heterosexuality is described as in our culture (men being a bunch of horn dogs, women being super choosy).

I'm not as familiar with the terms as @kaylentine but there are a few terms like what you're describing.
Demisexual: Only sexually attracted to those who you're romantically interested in. Under the ace umbrella.
Grey-asexual: Somewhere between asexual and not-asexual. (Not as familiar with the definition)

Well the person I'm talking about by your descriptions is far from asexual. He does still watch porn on a regular basis.

If anything, he's just pissed that he can't get any action. Not because he's an asshole or anything, but that he's, to be honest, unattractive and only talks about himself
