The Hollywood Reporter posted on Monday that film studio Paramount Pictures' planned G.I. Joe film will open on March 27, 2020, followed by Micronauts on October 16, 2020. Both films will adapt Hasbro's toy brands. Paramount Pictures also plans to release its Dungeons & Dragons film based on the tabletop role-playing game on July 23, 2021, followed by an untitled Hasbro event film on October 1, 2021.

The Hollywood Reporter posted in December 2015 that Paramount and Hasbro were collaborating for a potential film series with a shared universe combining five Hasbro brands: G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionairies, M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) and ROM. Allspark Pictures, Hasbro's film label, was set to produce the films. Hasbro and Paramount planned to assemble a team of writers to create the shared universe. Paramount has already produced film franchises based on Hasbro's Transformers and G.I. Joe toy lines.

[IMG]The Wall Street Journal reported in 2009 that that director and producer J.J. Abrams (Star Trek reboot films, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) was in talks with Hasbro to produce a film based on the Micronauts action figure line. The entertainment news website Deadline reported in October 2015 that Tom Wheeler would write the latest draft of the film's script.

Deadline then reported in November 2015 that scriptwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, Batman Forever) would lead the Writers Room for Paramount and Bad Robot's live-action Micronauts film.
