So how many of you have watched "Laputa:Castle in the Sky"?

Looks like I'm gonna have to add that to my 'to watch list' as if that list isnt huge already. ;)

So apparently to give a short summary, but not to spoil it, "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" is an 1986 anime film, about two protagonist Sheeta and Pazu, as well as the villainous Muska, who are looking for the titular floating castle, but what they are really after is a peaceful resolution to a dark heritage, adventure and purpose, and the power to rule the world, respectively.

Hmm sounds interesting don't you think?

Fans of this 1986 anime film have been searching for their own voice activated Laputa pendant. The pendant went on sale this month and has already sold out nationwide.

    Well that was fast!!

Apparently after 30 years since the release of the movie, the excitement around Laputa hasn't died down. The review and critical analysis of Laputa includes the word "timeless' and its fanbase is just as enthusiastic as ever.

Laputa gets shown on Japanese television once a year or so. Every time it does twitter users all tweet the incantation "barusu" exactly as Sheeta utters the words onscreen. In the film, 'Barusu" causes her mysterious heirloom pendant to glow and triggers the terrible spell of Destruction.

    Hmm some spell huh?

    Now comes the good part.....
Back in May, Ghibli merchandise specialist Donguri Kyowakoku announce it would be selling the voice activated replica of Sheet's pendant that would shine with a blue light when the wearer says "barusu" into it.

    Isnt it pretty??

Sorry guys sadly it doesn't trigger the spell of "Destruction". But I'm sure many of you are thinking "THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!"
    Am I right??

The retailer expected high demands for the trinket, which was prices reasonable by anime merchandise standards at 2,592 yen ($25.60 US / £43.75 BP). In order to ensure that there would be enough to go around, purchases were limited to a maximum of 3 pendants per customer. (Sorry guys no bulk orders). But even with the limit it proved to be not enough. Donguri Kyowakoky's website says that "not only is its entire stock sold out, the store has stopped taking orders for the pendants"

Well thats just a bummer isn't it??
**puts money back in wallet and sighs**

But not all hope is lost, Bonguri Kyowakoku also says that once a new batch of pendants is ready to be shipped, it will once again start taking orders through its website.

    WHOO!!
**pulls money back out of wallet**

On the downside, there is no set timeline for just when that will be. If you are one of the many pendant-less Laputa fans in the midst of agonizing wait, remember that Pazu spent his entire childhood yearning for a chance to see the castle in the sky. By comparison, the couple of months it may take Donguri Kyowakoku to restock doesn't seem so long...Does it??

So how many of you are a Laputa fan and want one of these glowing trinket? Are you willing to wait for the manfucturer to make more? However long it will take.

With that said I will now go listen to Cascada= "Castles in the sky" cause for some reason after typing this, I now have the song stuck in my head.

Just lol. Hilarious article and you are correct, it is a great pity every pendant does not come with a spell of destruction guarantee. That would be worthy of an anime in itself... :)

Really interesting to read and funny too. Keep it up, ma'am!
