Oh, Japan! is back to bring you more news to boggle the western mind from the Land of the Rising Sun! This week, let's get back into the swing of things with Japan's Bra Temple.

Dilapidated buildings, including old mining facilities, hospitals, and shrines and temples, known in Japan as haikyo (literally "ruins"), are hardly uncommon. Veritable "ghost towns" and abandoned buildings can be found worldwide, and in Japan and the States alike, everyone from "urban explorers" to bored teenagers are eager to explore them.

For most haikyo, visitors will find the buildings as they were when their final inhabitants departed. Others, however, are home to makeshift shrines, artwork, trinkets, and, yes, even vandalism left behind by said visitors. But one such haikyo, a former Buddhist temple in Japan, is home to something a tad more feminine... bras.. lots and lots of bras.

Despite being featured on Japanese television, the exact location of the Bra Temple is difficult to discern for those outside of the haikyo explorer community. But there exists a myriad of photos from individuals whom have managed to uncover the temple's location of room upon room of bras and even garter belts and stockings strewn about, affixed to walls, and hanging from the ceiling.

As strange as the hanging bras are, what most visitors and thrill-seekers find truly disturbing is the presence of alleged occult items, including a doll nailed to a board. Most abandoned buildings and haikyo feel strangely eerie or creepy at night, but a random doll nailed to a bit of wood certainly doesn't help that feeling.

Perhaps explaining the presence of the bras, a note left at the site describes much of the decor as part of an art exhibit. But just how much of the "decoration" can be attributed to the artist or to other visitors is unclear.

If you're ever in Japan, and if you can find it, you might be able to hire.. I mean, visit the Bra Temple.
