The official website for MAGES. and 5pb.'s visual novel game adaptation of Chiyomaru Shikura's Occultic;Nine novel series announced on Tuesday that the game's release has been delayed from September 28 to November 9. The game will have both a physical and digital release. The game was originally slated for a digital-only release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One. The game's staff said they are delaying the release to accommodate fans' requests for a physical release.

The website also began streaming the game's opening movie. The video features Asaka's opening theme song "Play the game." (Note: The linked video on the website is region-locked to Japan.)

The regular packaged version of the game will cost 7,800 yen (about US$72). The digital version will cost 7,000 yen (US$64) for PS4 and PS Vita, and 6,980 yen (US$64) for Xbox One. The limited edition for PS4 and PS Vita will cost 9,800 yen (US$90) and bundle a drama CD and design materials collection. The first copies of the PS4 and PS Vita versions will include soundtrack DLC for the game.

Shikura announced the game in March 2015 as an adaptation of his "paranormal science" novel series. J-Novel Club is releasing the novel series digitally in English, and it describes the story:

Yuta Gamon, a young boy who lives in Kichijoji, runs an occult blog called "Kirikiri Basara." He spends his days dreaming of making a fortune off his affiliate links. What starts off as a tiny feeling that something's wrong develops into a case that goes beyond imagination. Suddenly, Yuta brings together the fates of nine strangers. Black magic, the afterlife, psychics, fortune-telling, other dimensions, prophecies, hypnosis, urban legends... The world is filled with flim-flam!

A 12-episode television anime adaptation of the series premiered last October and ended in December. Crunchyroll and Daisuki both streamed the series as it aired, and Aniplex of America has licensed the series. Aniplex of America will release the series with an English dub on two Blu-ray Disc sets on September 26 and December 26.
