The official website for Ninja Girl & Samurai Master, the anime of Naoki Shigeno's four-panel manga Nobunaga no Shinobi, announced on Wednesday that production on a third season has been green-lit. The new season, titled Nobunaga no Shinobi ~Anegawa Ishiyama-Hen~ (literally, Nobunaga's Ninja: The Anegawa/Ishiyama Arc), will begin airing and streaming in April. As the title indicates, the season will depict the history-making Battle of Anegawa, in which Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu's forces fought Azai and Asakura's forces.

The main staff from the first two season are returning, led by director Akitarō Daichi at TMS Entertainment. Also returning are character designer Junko Yamanaka, art director Manami Koyama, color key artist Rie Katoh, director of photography Akemi Sasaki, editor Ikuyo Fujita, sound director Kazuya Tanaka, and musical composer Toshio Masuda.

Reprising their roles are the main cast members:
The original gag manga centers on a young female ninja named Chidori, whose dream is to help the Warring States-era warlord Oda Nobunaga to achieve his goals. Shigeno launched the manga in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine in 2008, and Hakusensha published the manga's 12th compiled volume in August. Hakusensha will publish the 13th volume on March 29.

The anime's first season premiered in October 2016 and ended in March 2017. The second season ran from April to September of last year. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.
