Voters can choose favorite work, mech, character, song
NHK launched an online "All Gundam Poll" on Friday for the Gundam franchise in preparation for its upcoming "Rekishi Hiwa: Gundam Historia" (Secret History: Gundam Historia) program that will air on BS Premium on April 2.

The poll itself features four categories:

    • Favorite Work (作品, green box on the website)
    • Favorite Mobile Suit/Mecha (モビルスーツ「メカ」, blue box)
    • Favorite Character (キャラクター, yellow box)
    • Favorite Gundam Songs (ガンダムソングス, purple box)
Each category requires voters to choose a favorite, then voters must provide a nickname, gender, age, and location (voters can choose outside of Japan for their location). Voters can optionally also provide a reason for choosing that particular favorite. Voters can choose only one favorite for "Favorite Work," but can choose up to three Mobile Suits, five characters, and two songs in the other categories. The latter three categories allow voters to pick and choose from a number of options (more than 2,000 characters; more than 900 Mobile Suits; and more than 200 songs), or voters can write in a vote at the top.

The poll ends on April 20 at 11:59 p.m. JST (10:59 a.m. EDT). BS Premium will then broadcast the results in two programs on May 5 at 9:00 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.

Gundam is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and a report last year by the Daily Sports newspaper reported that "big project" or projects are underway to celebrate the anniversary in 2019.
