Watch the first trailer for the new Wolverine film, Logan:

Directed by James Mangold, the film will mark Hugh Jackman's last outing as the character. The director has recently revealed that the actor Stephen Merchant would be playing he mutant Caliban.

Furthermore, a recent photo shared by Hugh Jackman, which features graffiti on the set saying "Where are all the mutants?", might give a hint at Caliban’s significance in Logan. Mangold has also revealed the film’s storyboards, the main villain, and Professor X’s state of being.

Logan appears to be taking cues from Old Man Logan, an eight-issue Wolverine story by Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven. For a closer comparison between the two, and a wider look at the evolution of the actor's take on the character since the first X-Men movie was released in 2000.

Logan also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, and Sienna Novikov. It will be released on March 2, 2017 in the UK and March 3 in the US.

I loved James Mangold's take on The Wolverine; it was definitely Logan done right, the savagery, the anger, the inner pain. Can't wait to see this new one, even though I haven't read the book. Nice to see the franchise spanning out more than just another X-Men sequel, as this one looks like it might be an alternate universe/timeline with the whole "Where are the mutants" shtick going on.
