"What an eccentric performance," observed King Arthur of Tim The Enchanter in Monty Python And The Holy Grail. But Tim, it turns out, is positively subdued compared to the riot of colour and theatrical hamming on display in Joe Wright's incoming Pan. Second star to the right and straight on til morning is the address for Neverland, but you don't need to go that far to see the new trailer. Look, it's right here!

As you'll have seen from that, Wright has gone all out for fantasy spectacle, and the trailer editors are clearly much enamoured of his flying ships. Levi Miller is Peter Pan before we meet him in JM Barrie's classic tale (for this be a prequel, my lads), and Huge Ackman is the dread pirate Blackbeard: an important player in the film's other origin story for Garrett Hedlund's Captain Hook.

Peter is a wartime orphan who winds up in Neverland and falls under Blackbeard's nefarious piratical spell. Both Hedlund’s young Hook and Rooney Mara’s boisterously-hatted Tiger Lily offer the hand of friendship (remember this is pre-crocodile) as the young Londoner prepares to do battle with the evil corsair.

Also aboard the good ship Jolly Roger are Amanda Seyfried, Cara Delevingne, Paul Kaye, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar and Kathy Burke. Originally scheduled for a summer release, Pan will now be landing on UK shores in time for half term, on October 16.
