New Release Club's Danganronpa Discussion

    Danganronpa




    A group of 15 elite high school students are gathered at a very special, high class high school. To graduate from this high school essentially means you'll succeed in life, but graduating is very difficult. The school is presided over by a bear called Monokuma, and he explains to them that their graduation hinges around committing a murder. The only way to graduate is to kill one of your classmates and get away with it. If the other classmates discover the identity of the killer, the killer is the only one executed. However, if they fail to catch the killer, only the killer graduates and the others are annihilated. Which of the 15 will survive the bloodbath to come?


    The first episode has aired and is currently raw only, however I know how keen some of you are about wanting to share thoughts so I thought it is best to make this a bit early than hours too late. So while we all wait with anticipation, what do you  think this series will be like?
    I'm hoping for it to be an intense or at least partially intense seinen that keeps us wanting more right until the final second of the last episode. What too high of an expectation, well yeah but it is nice to imagine.

    It lived to my high expectations!!

    I am happy that they made every char very different from each other, makes it easier to remember. So far it's hard to select which one I liked most, but it's definitely not the main guy (too wimpy).

    I believe the first death will come in the next episode, but I doubt it will be one of the "survivors" that kills that person. Probably some trap or the bear itself will kill someone to create despair.

    Anyway, it was worth the wait so far ^^

    I agree with almost everything you said Ovyda, sure only one ep and it was largely introductory but so far so good. The extremes of each character are absolutely great, esp the fighter girl, next years GARch winner anyone seriously she is the GARest character in a while. Anyway all of their personality quirks and should prove interesting as some are emotional and fidgety while others seem cold and distant. I believe that the MC will prove his worth and lose the "wimpy" status eventually but it does make sense since he is only a normal highschool boy there by chance.

    I think I already know who the first to die is, the PV looks as if it reveals one death but I wont say who in case people didn't realise [if I'm correct that is], but death by a trap first is an interesting idea since they obviously do need to explore exactly what is off limits since the rules were quite vague apart from "off limits" and don't harass the principal. I want more Monokuma that creature is definitely something to watch as it replicates and disappears quickly.

    Oh and one last thing I forgot to mention in the OP, if there is anyone that has played the source material don't even think about sharing anything from it that is a spoiler. Depending on severity I will kick and ban you from this group without a second thought. In case people couldn't tell I am 100% against spoilers of shows of this nature.

    I agree with Ovyda aswell. And Knight, i like that last rule you said. I am absolutely against spoilers aswell.

    The guy with the red eyes and the guy with the hair standing forward with Zoro's voice are my favorites so far.

    This was pretty good for a first episode. It might have only been an introduction for all the characters but it grabbed my interest rather well.

    @keiichi-morisato, what you have something against survival game anime? They make for an interesting watch because you never know exactly what will happen or even if your favourite character will live throughout the entire show. These kinds of series are some of my favourite and it shows by how I end up rating them according to MAL.

    Oh and yeah I'd say they do have the balls to kill one another, what would be the point of a survival count at the end of the ep if no one will die at all, also this is a murder mystery anime adaptation so basically it is guaranteed that at least one will end up killing.

    Oh that'd be a great little twist and it is something that I never actually noticed, actually I think I like the sound of the idol dying near the beginning. Our MC said he'd help her escape no matter what, the idol becoming the first victim could be too much and that could potentially make him the badass character we all want to see from him. But first sounds a little too soon for this hmm...

    Well the person I think will die first is the fortune teller, I can't be sure but I think the PV shown him dead against a wall, now I don't particularly want to know so I haven't rewatched that trailer for it but thats just what I thought I had seen.
    Although I don't want this to be the case and actually hope that I am wrong.
    What is everyone else's thoughts who will die first place your bets.

    I just heard that Danganronpa has many twists. Thus, I went with something that people wouldn't expect and I thought her death would be such a great trigger for the MC guy to go out of control.

    Awesome. They are so easy with killing. First Maizuko or whats her name and then that other girl just because she stepped on Monobear. And the way he killed her, awesome :D

    I rly love this anime. Can't wait till next week with the trial. I'm pretty sure they won't blame MC in the end because that would mean they all die and the culprit graduates. A little too soon.

    I called Maizuko either snapping or be the evil one because, I mean really, no one can be that airheaded and innocent in this situation. Seeing her first to go was a tiny surprise, and the second to go was the soon to be bitch if she stayed, I could see it.
    And by the evidence we saw, pretty sure it's gonna be that guy with the crystal ball.

    One thing I would have done was check up on everyone's room before the first night ended, just to see what was in the rooms. Like he had a sword replica, that didnt even look like a sword replica but the real thing.

    If I guess correctly again, then my posts should be considered as spoiler LOL

    Anyway, my guesses who did it:

    1) The number 11037 is the name "LEON" written upside down. Since the red-haired guy is called Leon, I think he's the killer.

    2) A broken Crystal ball means Yasuhiro could of done it.

    3) Someone wrote down LEON and broke Crystal ball on purpose to make them look suspicious.

    What you guys think?

    The LEON theory is actually well thought out. I don't even know the names. The only one i really remembered was Sakura.

    Other than that theres red eyes guy, zoro voice guy, boob girl, white haired girl, fat guy, main character and thats about it.

    I swear to god, you're gonna make me ruin this by looking at MAL more closely. I am going to have to off limits that part of MAL.

    Anyways, so far, it goes hand in hand of whether Yasuhiro did it or Leon.
    The way I see it in why they would kill her, is probably because one of them wanted some P and she said no and then one of them kills her, but meh. Other than that, we dont really even see a motive. But man, I was hoping for her to be the main killer or something, since it looked like she would snap or was a closet maniac.

    Im going with your third option, seems to me the killer wouldnt leave clues like that so it has to be a setup.
